Tap Water Filtration

Anyone know of any good tap water filters I could buy? I have a small tank at 29gallons and I'm just looking for something to do a water change every other week without having to buy a bunch of distilled water jugs. Links appreciated.
 
you would be much better off using the jugs. that would only amount to 3-4 gallons every couple of weeks. no matter what you do to tap water, you will end up chasing algae issues. been there, done that!
 
I have a 29 gallon tank as well, and we bought water from our friends for a while. We decided to start making our own water and it is much more convenient than lugging around 20-30 gallons per trip to refill our supply. Now I can make water in 5-10 gallon increments at my own pace. We bought an AquaticLife RO/DI unit from marine depot () and it works great. We are actually looking to sell our current system because we have upgraded our tank and need to produce more water. The AquaticLife system will produce 5 gallons in about 1.5-2 hours depending on water pressure. If you are interested in our unit private message me for details and price.
 
Really, in the long run, you will be best served by purchasing a ro/di unit from one vendor or another. My preference is for www.buckeyehydro.com They can set you up with whatever you need. For mine, I wanted to run a line to the frig for ice/water and to be able to stop buying GE's $30 filters. I had a custom built unit to my door 3 days after ordering it. You can get one to permanently install, or one to just hook up and use as needed. It will quickly pay for itself.

For a 29 gallon it's worth it to lug 5 gallon jugs to and from the lfs. I run open top and go through less the 5 gallons a week on top off and once a month change out 5 gallons.
 
I go to my LFS and buy RO/DI for 33 cents a gallon. Spend about 7 bucks on 20 gallons of water. I just went to walmart and bought the 7 gallon water jug and 6 gallon for about 10-14 bucks a pop.
 
If you trust your Lfs to regularly change their filters go for it. But an rodi is a worthwhile purchase that eliminates having to trust the Lfs to have pure water
 
I would hate to have to go mucking about outside in the cold, snow, ice lugging around water jugs. I would opt for a RO/DI unit. Bulk Reef Supply seems to be popular, I went with the Filter guys when I got mine.
 
Don't buy a tap water filter. As stated above the filter replacement cost is high & they don't produce 0 tds water that you need.

Get an rodi filter. It will pay itself off in no time.
