What is your tap water tds?
Do you drink unfiltered water from your tap?
What number is considered safe for human consumption?
Anyone using unfiltered tap water in their reef?

Tap water TDS for me is 31

Yes and have even been no to drink from the hose when really thirsty

No I use a 5 stage 150 gpd rodi unit

John,
TDS generally in the 30's.
Use RO for the reef.
Have no idea on a number.
I make my iced tea drink from the tap but we do have a britta pitcher.

We have well water. The minerals turned all the kids plastic cups and bottles red/brown so I hooked the RO up to a drinking water tap at our sink for consumption. So the fish get it and we get it, at least for drinking.

What model meter are you guys using?
How is yours displayed?
Mine is a Hanna TDS-3. The display shows 3 numbers measured in ppm.
My current reading is 050.

Should my sediment filter be this clogged after only six months in use

Tap water is 28, and besides the regular faucet I have a filtered one for drinking water. I'm using a 4 stage 100GPD.

Yikes! Mine are just about six months and no where near as bad. I will have to change the DI resin soon.

I'm at 30 months and still making 0 tds without a di stage. Sediment filter is just starting to turn beige.

That is impressive. If anyone else said that i would call bs. Wait a minute, is this an April fools joke?
I just changed all my filters yesterday, including the membrane and di.
They were exactly 24 months old with 0 tds.
They started turning brown (not nearly as brown as the fellow above) so i cleaned all the housings and changed all the filters.
