Taqpol's 220 gallon custom Miracles tank!

Wow, I was following your LED thread in the DIY section and didn't realize you had a thread about your new build. Really liking how things are turning out. Congrats on the marriage. My wife and I have been married for nearly 6 years and I have never enjoyed every minute of it. We are expecting our first child in 4 days as well. Looking forward to many sleepless nights.

What are you going to grad school for?

Great work Alex! Let's see it on the stand. :)
I want it to be on by Wednesday!

You never enjoyed a minute of it? Better not tell your wife... ;)

I am getting my PhD in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology. Right now I am doing research on Epstein-Barr Virus.

Hahaha, I love when your head gives you subliminal messages. What he meant to say is he used to be married 6 years.:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yeah, sounded so much better in my head. I think I combined "never been happier" with I have "enjoyed every minute of it."

Oh well, she doesn't read anything on RC. For good reason too.

Amazing stand. What did you use to color the stand and how can you replace the old stand with the new. Are you going to take everything out from the tank then put the new stand?

And a close up of an annoying little worm that lives inside it. I tried to kill it by putting super glue over its hole and it responded by burrowing out in the middle of the coral...
If you really want to get rid of it pull the coral and drill into it... the worms don't like that ;)

Looking great, Alex!
You've got some mad carpentry skills that you're showing off with your stand trim...very nice work. I also think you're doing the right thing with the dips vs. treating the whole tank w/ interceptor. The whole-tank treatment will nuke all your pods and I tend to think that is not good for the system over time. Sounds like Live Aquaria is really treating you right! Love that desalwii!!

Your skin turned out very nice. I have been looking at using black dye for our stand. It is nice to see what it looks like.

Haha, that would probably work!

Thanks! The pictures must be misleading, I think I am pretty mediocre with woodwork. I definitely don't have the patience (or time....) to really do it justice.

beautiful tank and diy led fixture !!!

nice stand

This isn't the exact stuff I used, but its similar:

This stand is not a replacement stand, just a skin for the stand I already have. Here are some pictures to show how it went on and what it looks like on the tank.
