Tax Holiday

My "old" 2002 pc had major issues and needed to be reformatted again but I needed some files off of it so I figured I'd get a new one, connect the old hard drive(s) and get my files. Doesn't look so good on connecting the old drives. HP is "different" from my old system and doesn't use those +2" wide belt connectors.

But thanks to the no tax weekend I saved almost 10% above the sale price. Doesn't much count since I was looking at a $800 system online and walked away with +$1000. AMD quad phenom w/ 24" hdmi display.:D and 18 mos no interest from Sam's club.

I guess we're going clothes shopping tomorrow (pray for me). Clothes are tax free too this weekend.

And Vista is "different". I'm an old dog who doesn't like new tricks. Wish I could have got this thing in XP. I'm not sure if it's Vista or RC's update but I now have a black background and white font.

Yeah, I mean...I could switch back, but I don't really have that many issues with it. It's a little slow sometimes, but other than that...no real issues.

We have an agreement at work where we can download and install all Microsoft products before their released. I have Vista Ultimate on my old work laptop and as a systems engineer Vista is way to locked down for administraive work. As a power user though it probally works well but it does require a ton of system resources.

ok, fixed the background color but now I have a font issue to overcome. In this quick reply box I can hardly see the font (4-6 font size) but in reading above font it's nice and big (18ish sz). The fun of a new computer...
