There are scuba parks in the area for open water training dives. the water is chilly this time of year, but if a student is desparate enough to want that certfication then they "suck it up and drive on."
There are also a couple of lakes and rivers with areas set aside for scuba divers which have limited visibility (5-20 ft depending on the time of year)
I really enjoy the Florida keys (Key Largo is one of my favorite easily reached dive destinations), Bonaire, and California. I hope to see some wrecks off the east coast this year! Depends on the training schedule though.
The hobby attracts alot of engineers, rather like reef keeping. Imagine that!!

I have always wanted to get certified. I have done alot of snokling and even an illegal dive or two, but those were when i was young.
We were thinking of vacationing in mexico this year, made i can do one of those fly by night classes.

Add my first zoos and mushrooms yesterday. Hope the Red mitax leave the be..... I'll post pics soon
