wow its amazing what this little gizmo can show you about reef keeping. i learned this week my water change bucket sitting around all week with no cover on it and not washing it out befor using it pretty much eliminates my ro/di's effects, or is this just mostly from the crystalized salt from my last water change? right away it goes from 1ppm to 46 pmm, then over a hour it goes up to 300 ppm. my normal tap water is 46ppm.

Salt will add a lot to a tds reading, even just residual left over. an open water change bucket, especially if used for the wastewater as well wont help matters, your best bet is to get a sealed container specifically to hold your pure water, and then transferring it to the water change container, have one container dedicated for waste water, the other to fresh salt water.. keeping the fresh salt container clean and covered at all times.
