Tds?

I was testing my RO/DI system as well as other water and had a ?
Untreated tap water = 260
Treated tap water (whole house filter and water softner) 308
Treated tap water + carbon filter in fridge = 168
RO/DI = 5
I was thinking about running tubing from RO/DI to the fridge, but haven't had the desire yet.
I changed the whole house filter 2 months ago. Why would my TDS be higher? Just curious.

Hi
From what I understand you water softner will raise your tds because of the salt that is used to soften the water

I was thinking that too, but thought the whole house filter might balance it out by taking out the some of the sediment. I just wanted to make sure!

The water softner has a media in the tank that removes the hardness from the water. The salt is use to clean the media during the regeneration cycle.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. Currently, there is copper tubing coming from an angle valve on my cold water supply.

Are you going to run a line off your RO/DI (Tee'd off) to your fridge? Do you have a RO/DI storage tank?

Yes, I have a two gallon storage tank. I already have a line to the fridge, but it would be easy to put a T in and run a different line. RO/DI makes great ice for mixed drinks right?
