Tearing down a perfect wall......450 gallon Bowfront

Thank you David for the support.
Here's the pics of the sock filter holder I threw together today.
I figued I had some scrap acrylic sheets and solid rods I thought I would put it to use.
Simple but effective, I hope this cuts down on the ditritus build up in the sumps below. If not I'm goign to look for some hydors to throw in there too.

Understand your feelings. When I lost my Emperor Angel to a swim bladder infection i was crushed. Had him for 2 years and saw him change from a juvi to full adult. I lost my male Clarkii clown last month and that was even worse. Had him 4 years and he was paired with a female and they both lived in the same anenome. Found him on the floor. I lost a Henochius to jumping too last year and 2 Anthias. I bought some netting today and I'm going to do up three frames tomorrow (tank has 2 center braces making three spaces in the top).

I've had loads of problems with my tank and sank so much money into it and that is why I continue. It's a major feature of the house and I can't imagine being without it.

And we can always buy new fish! I have a replacement Heni and male Clarki in QT with a new Niger Trigger. When this QT phase is over I'll get the juvi Emperor again.

Your Trigger is awesome. Not seen one of those before. :)

Thanks for the kind words Nexdog.
Two years ago I lost an adult emperor due to some internal infection from out of no where, one day was eating the next day he just sat at the bottom of the tank and hid there, I figured he had a fluke or something ,but I didn't have the knowledge then as I do today to try and medicate him with the right medicine, or have a Qt tank.
I believe losing a fish is a big deal because we spend so much time and effort into keeping them alive, when something happens we feel like we failed at it.

The trigger is a rectangular, I bought him last year and eats everything. There kind of easy to find here at our Lfs'.
As much as I like triggers and have had a large pinktail, huma, and queen in the past in a glass tank.
I figure having an acrylic tank now I'm not going to chance it with getting more scratches or gouges in it due to the fish + I don't feel like getting bit by one when I'm feeding and my hands are in the water.
This tank will hold more tangs and angels more than anything.

Things are coming along nice. That sucks about your fish. You might want to give it some more time before adding more big fish.

1 thing I saw was your ballast on the back of your stand. I would be afraid of getting it wet..

I know what your saying. To be honest those are only in thier temporary spot for now. I have to install a couple outlets this week to the left of the tank on the wall and build a rack for everything.
I wanted to install them up above the tank, but thought the humidity and salt in the air would start to build up on them that's why I am trying to keep all lighting equiptment as far away as possible.

The only other thing I wish I would have went with were external skimmers, I have to keep adjusting them as I have evapoartion every few days. They work great but once I get them dialed in I have to keep adjusting again.
Once all the electrical is done, I have to run a few water lines to that room for a sink and run a drain. I want to run this huge Ro unit I bought from a LFS that went out of buisness last year.
It has like 7 or 8 stages on the thing, with a permeate pump.
I'll have to figure out where to get new cartridges when I have it all plumbed it.

Anyone ever used something like this before?
I think they are used for some type of carbonated drink stations.
If they don't work, I'll wind up buying a whole new setup.

I have a 3 stage kent with di for now but I think I need something that makes more than 15 gallons in 24 hours.
Or might go with a kold sterl unit.
As for adding new fish, it has nothing to do with my water perameters, my last 2 fish that died were due to it was my own fault.

I moved mine up and think that is the best spot for me. Always working and trying to get stuff done. You are making good progress better than I can say for myself..

External Skimmer..Maybee you have a good reason to get a autotop off(if you don't already have one) or try and baffle the skimmer so the water doesnt fluxuate in that compartment...Man they look cool when they are external.. I have a dual beckett and it gets the poop pretty good. But after a cleaning it take a little tweaking. i go tired of the water on the floor and decided to go internal sump. With my work schedule, family, and traveling i think internal was the best choice for me. Just something to think about...You know that damm Murphy guy..I would love to KICK his &%^$^&%.. ahahahah

Really external skimmers looks Cool. I think they really give the setup a more lab look.

never seen a RO like that..I have a 100gal a day but have well water not city water so ,y pressure isn't as high. That really hurts my water prodsuction. They sell booster pumps that help raise the pressure for the ro to make water faster. I still haven't got 1 for mine yet...I don't know if you have city or well water so hot sure this will help..but FYI.......
