i also think that the foot looks more like a bubble tip than majano. i had a small bleached bubble tip years ago in my first tank. it was about 1in across and hosted a baby maroon clown. the foot was red but looked similar. it found a place in my rocks and stayed there. i had low flow and low light. i eventually moved and sold my tank. my guess is that it didn't make it. Try to get some more pics.
While I can't look at the top photo and determine the species of anemone it is, I am very familiar with majano's after having a tank infested with them.
3 years ago I purchased a specimen that definitely wasn't a majano, and looked like a GBTA.
It has split 4 times in the three years I've had it. I am convinced it's some dwarf version of a GBTA. It has all the attributes and behaviors, plus it hosts shrimps , none of the clones has ever gotten any bigger than what you see.
also, like my experience with GBTA full size, typically the only time it splits is when it is stressed. (moving it to a slightly larger tank caused it to split, and moving the clones caused them to splis.
haha it would just figure if I paid ten bucks for a majano..lol
To be on the safe side I moved it to the 20 gallon that I aquired for free...a fully established tank from which the few occupants went into the 75 DT and I had this one running for quarantine or whatever...it has found a spot so far (not good for picture taking) and we'll just see. If it is a Majano I don't particularly mind as it is pretty and the tank is just sitting there for the time being. I was going to make it a Seahorse tank eventually. However paying $10 kinda bites...I may be posting this on the "Dumbest thing you've done as a newbie" thread...LOL
I really think thats a majano. Here is some that came with some live rock I got from a friend (then threw away). They do look like small GBTA, but they're evil.
i have an anemone tank full of majanos and nothing gets rid of them i mean nothing, im thinkking about just letting the rock just dry out after i pressure wash it, ill have to put the btas in my reef tank
Boiling water poured on them works, and pliers work pretty good too.
Just yesterday I watched a racccoon butterfly tear them up on an infested rock. Before I completely tear my tank down, I'm going to try him. Got to remove all my softies and lps first though.
