Tek fixture feet instalation?

Well I just picked up the Tek t5-ho fixture earlier today and am having a hard time making the legs fit? I have a 48" tank so I ordered a 48" Tek fixture but with the legs on and adjusted as close as possilbe to the tank I still have about 1 1/2" of space on one side? So the fixture basically falls off everytime I try and put it on....?? The box didn't really come with any instructions about this. If anyone has experience with the tek fixture and feet please let me know. Thanks

I believe part or the whole leg could be reversed so they slide and adjust either inside or outside the canopy.
In other words just take them out, turn them and put them back on. I hope I am making my self clear
