tell me about your one spot foxface

Longnose butterfly or various other yellow butterflies, yellow coris wrasse, lemonpeel angel, yellow tang, just to name a few.

out of all those, i think the coris wrasse is the only one that doesn't need a significantly larger tank than what i have. i may go with one of those.

They are really great at keeping algae in check, they even eat bubble algae. One note of caution, my last one (I currently do not have one) ate one of my prized open brain corals. It was fine for a couple of years and then one day it started munching away and killed the coral. I then sold him as I was afraid he was going to move on to my other open brain corals. With that being said, I had one for years prior to that which never ate any of my corals. They do produce a lot of waste as they eat algae and seaweed all day long.

I adore mine. Had him about 1.5 years. I've had one previously too. The two I have had experience of are by far the most personable fish I've had. Very interactive fish with anyone.

If they become "hungry" and there is insufficient algae to graze upon, they will sometimes eat the Zooxanthellae found within corals. Hence they are eating corals (sort of).

+1 and many other algae eaters will resort to this if insufficient food source is available

Got mine at 1.5", he's great. Took care of my Valencia problem. Never saw him eat it but its gone, and he is now 4" and its only been 6months.
He and my Black tang are inseparable, they are best buds. It's actually quite funny. Always with each other and never fight.

considering the fact that my kole tang grazes constantly and has cleaned every speck of algae off of my power heads, i'm thinking i could not support 2 grazers so i'm gonna have to pass on the fox face for now.

i really do appreciate all of the input, though!

yup, saw one there. i'm gonna wait till my red velvet fairy wrasse is done with qt in a couple of weeks before i order any more fish. don't wanna restart the qt clock.

My first one came from an lfs and it was already 4". I'm pretty sure that he brought Ich to my DT as I didn't have a QT. That fish was so neurotic all it did was pace the tank and never was yellow. It was chronically stressed. I set up a QT and got a small one about 2.5" and it didn't survive TT and was very skittish. I bucked up and got another small one and this one has a great personality. He is still nervous but eats constantly both nori and pellets and is always front and center. He gets along with all other fish...ate all the hair and bubble algae he could find and doesn't bother the coral at all. If you get one from an lfs try to observe the fish for awhile...it was obvious from the start that this one's personality was mellower than the other two.
