temp crashed, LPS stressed

i came home to find my tank temp at 73-74 degrees :(

all of my LPS are in their low extension "night" mode. my zoas are also partially closed. my fish seem ok. im slowly bringing the temp up to around 78 by going up a degree every two hours. i usually keep the tank around 79-81 but planning on letting that happen over the course of the day tomorrow.

anything like this ever happen to any of you? im hoping everything will recover but bracing myself for the worst...

I wouldn't worry about it. Last winter during Sandy my house got to 50 degrees so the tank would have been close to that and I didn't lose any LPS. Just took a few days to recover.

yeah ime corals especially lps and softies are hard to kill. and a low temp is much better then a high one. imo. high temps really mess with coral. i actually run my tank at 76 degrees all the time. ime i find i get better color with lower temps

I agree with these posts. 73 degrees is fine for a few hrs or so. I had the same issues with Sandy last year and I walked the tank down to 74 and back up to 78 with no problem whatsoever. If anything, keep it consistent and do it overnight to simulate PH.
