what temp are most of you running at? I seem to be at about 80deg F and can't get it lower. Is that OK? I have 6 36" t-5s ona 65gl rr with 1 3" fan. Need more fans, or cooler?

Thanks

Your fine;) Don't sweat that temp;) If you start hitting 83 in the summer and can't control it, then start looking for input on reduction methods.

cool, I thought it was a little warm but I guess not. It has been pretty hot here in OK untill this last week when it dropped around 25 deg F in two days, It felt like late fall yesterday

Thanks
Chris

Yeah once you get over 84* then start worrying. I wish I could keep my tank at 80* during the summer. Man I really need a chiller.

Nope, 80's not warm at all. Your a couple degrees below not only the average temp for coral reefs, but the optima for most species we keep.

ITs sure easier to warm it up a little. Thanks for all the responces, I will turn my heater up some. I keep the house pretty cool @ around 70 deg f or so. That seems to help cool the tank off. I figured the mag 12 and the lights would warm it up more, but I have been wrong before, and it probably won't be the last time.

Thanks Again!
Chris

Your lucky... 80 is my optimum target temp. But I can't get it that low. I typically fluctuate between 82 - 83... and might hit 84 +/- on warmer days.

A good range is about 77 - 84 give or take. Also, you want to keep your temp somewhat steady. you really don't want it to fluctuate much more than 2 degrees in a 24 hour period.

Your temp is fine... In fact, I would consider it great.

Your temp is fine, but it seems odd that it runs 10+ degrees over ambient. I'd take a look at your fan setup and make sure you're getting fresh air around the tank. My setup usually only runs about 3-4 degrees over house temp, and that's with all the lights on and pumps running.

I'll definately chek it out. But don't seem to have any problems, the fan blows across the lights from one end to the other. You can feel the hot air coming out of the vents, + the back is completely open. No scum on the water either. I for some reason thought the temp should be arooun 78 or so. Don't know where I got that idea in my head! lol Thanks again for the thoughts and help!!
