Temperature Controller comparison?

I am trying to find the most reliable Temp controller at the most affordable price. If anyone can comment on the reliability of either of the following I'd appreciate it.

GTC1R

RONCO

In reality I want something that can connect to my computer and text message me/email me if my temperature goes out of a specific range such as how the current Tank of the Month is setup.

Is there a cheaper solution to this than the Aquacontroller 3 Pro?

I really only want to monitor temperature... not so concerned about everything else as far as needing it accessible online.

Thanks

Unfortunately, the descriptions of the two products that you are considering are not very detailed. Here's is what you should look for:

- Keeps settings across power outages
- Displays/controls to 1/10th of a degree (3-digit)
- Dual-stage to control both heater and cooler (or fan)
- Can be recalibrated (all electronic thermostats drift)

I have a laboratory thermometer to calibrate my temperature controller and my Eheim Jager heaters. The foot-long A20 mercury thermometer is available for $24 from www.sealifesupply.com. I've discovered drifts of 1 degree with my Medusa HC-150 controller and 5 degrees with my Eheim Jager heaters.

Good info thanks. Except now I feel even more uneasy about my tank's temperature =P

If anyone else has had experience with any of the mentioned controlers or have recommendations I'm all ears.

I own the Ranco controllers and love them. They are industrial strength at a reasonable cost. They also hold their values during a power outage.

Good to know, do any of them have the ability to upload the data to a webserver or send email alerts?
