Temperature reading

What is wrong with my ACII?? My temperature reading is horrible. It jumps all over the place within a few seconds.

It will be 75 one sec 75.1, and climbing then all of a sudden dropped to 74.1 and rising, etc.

This is totally screwing up with my corals...

Gr this is annoying. I can't seem to fix this problem.

Has anyone ever had issues like this with their ACII?

I know someone had issues with the Icecap.

Any help would be nice

Try the following:
- Physically move the temperature cord away from any of the ballast cords.
- make sure that the ballast hood is grounded.

Hey Curt,

Here are stuff that I did (not in any specific order):

-I used different outlets for the electronic ballasts
-I removed the x10 on the ballasts and used it as is
-I used the x10 on the ballast
-I moved the probes around
-I disconnected the probes one by one and reconnected one by one
-I rolled up the AC temp wires and the ballasts wire
-I separated the wires
-I did the manual on and off as instructed on the manual
-When I switch back to the other ballast (sunlight supplY), things return to normal. So it is the Coralvue ballst. Also when the Coralvue ballast is on, I get a lot of static on my cable tv which is on the 2nd floor.
-I tried to look for RF Choke as you stated on other post, but found out that you have to saw it in.
-I looked up http://www.smarthomeusa.com/ShopByManufacturer/X-10-Pro/Item/XPPF/moreInfo/#content
and would like to know if that will help ?

Could you explain how to ground?

Thanks

I found just this morning that my temp was jumping all over too.
I dont have my AC2 mounted to my tank atm, its just sitting up on my hood.

What I found is that the power connector to ac2 is VERY sensitive to shorting out. if I even TOUCH the little jack that supplies power, then the temp reading will drop to 20-30F and take several minutes to adjust itself.

This is very annoying because it will trigger my chiller and fans to kick on. I guess I need to get the AC2 mounted soon as picking it up and moving it is very sketchy.

Anyone else seen this problem?

Psionicdragon,
The noise filter you linked to will not help with the temperature reading. The metal hood of your lighting system should connect to earth ground. The should be a ground wire that goes from hood to ballast, and then the power control should connect the ground of the ballast to the earth ground pin of the power plug. I heard that some ballast don't have the ground connection which I think is a safety hazard, and without it a great deal of EMI can radiate from the bulb/ballast.
If grounding doesn't help, please send an email to support@neptunesys.com, and we'll issue a RMA # for the controller so that we can check it.
