Temperature Spike Questions.

Due to an equipment malfunction, I just 'caught' a temperature spike that reached a high of 88.3F. It certainly wasn't that high for long and once discovered, quickly (and presumably safely) brought back down. It is normally around 79F. Presently, neither corals or fish seem stressed. Questions: What's the highest your tank has ever spiked (and for how long) without any significant damage to your corals?

88-89 for about 4 hours last summer, when my AC broke ... I ran out and got a new portable one though. at that time, my SPS tank had a 4-5 degree swing per day ! I personally think that is what kept my corals from dying or at least bleaching fully. or maybe I just got lucky.

My main source of heat is from the metal halide. I have my controller to turn it off when the temp is 83 or higher. Because of this reason, the tank never gets higher than 83.2. My tank sits normally at 78.0 +/-0.4 degree.

Exact same problem here; exact same temp spike but probably for half the time. So far there appears to be no damage.
