I am in Gainesville, Florida. I used to live in Indiana and had a pretty good FW club that had monthly meetings. Does anyone know a good marine club in the Gainesville area?

My tank is a 75 gallon been running for about 3 months now, I have a small piece of gsp in the tank and 5 fish and snails and a few hermits. I still have a brown algae growing on the rocks that gets pretty thick sometimes, should algae still be a problem, I'd like to start adding some more corals but want to get the algae under control first. Thanks for any advise

I noticed there are some red dots on my glass. They are about the size of a pin head and tend to stay in the same area but do move. If I brush them off the glass they will go away and be stuck again the next day. Does anyone know what this could be? Should I take them out?

I have some new mushrooms in my tank, I believe they are Bullseye mushrooms. I was wondering what the white looped stringy stuff is that comes out of the center of each mushroom as they are interrupted or move to a new home or new part of the tank? When I placed them into the tank, they curled up into the little balls that mushrooms typically do, and long bright white strings about 4 inches long came out of them and just waved around in the water... I've NEVER seen this before.. hmm.....

recently found a set of high output leds at my local lowes. I retrofitted them to my hood in place of my vho lamps and also added a set across the ballast cover. 3 weeks and my corals seem to be loving it! they are brilliant in illumination and output, and the shimmer effect is intense. heres a photo of the fixture after i installed the LEDs

I was wondering how many clown gobies and neon gobies I can keep in this tank. I'm not sure how aggressive gobies are, but from my experience in keeping a watchman and neon gobies, I assume they can coexist well.

what type of equipment do I need for this frag tank besides, the tank itself, stand, MH T5 lighting, sump, pumps, etc.. I plan to have only LR and the frags. So no fishes or inverts. Do I need a skimmer or any other equipment? Is there anything else i'm missing?

I have read several reviews on Actasia X that are good, but I am wondering if I were to use this product (especially in conjuntion with any other meds) would it be harmful to the fish or tank chemistry? Should we make sure to do a water change right after we use the Actasia X? I am trying to be cautious since one of our friends has used meds in the past and his fish died due to the meds. We tried natural means to get rid of the actasia by purchasing peppermint shrimp but they cannot get rid of the large actasia.

What do I do? I'm going to turn off the lights earlier and release the blenny. I even added about 1/4 of a lb of live rock to add more territory.

i have a 75g thats been up about a year, but hasent had mutch in it besides sand rock and a B&W clown with torch coral, the stand is a DIY joby and dosent look good, and i did a bad job drilling the tank and the bulk head leaks a littel, and after all this time there is no life in the tank but bristle worms, no pods ect at all

iam thinking of upgradeing to a 90 drilled with overflow, but iam worried about moveing the rock over, iam thinking of replaceing the sugar sand with a bit heavyer sand, i have a hepatus tang and foxface in QT right now and iam thinking if i should put them in the 75g for now until i get the new tank up, i might add some more rock wich will cause a cycle so iam thinking of setting the new tank up with some new rock and sand let it sit for a month and then move the fish and rock from the 75g to the 90g dos that sound ok?

I was without power for 5 days and lost everything in my 14gal nano. All corals melted and slimmed up, snails and crabs died. I am so upset that I can't think, My questions are... Is the tank poisoned now? do I take all water out and put in new? what about my rock, it had lots of coraline on it, now nothing? and the sand do i need to change that also? and the bio balls in filter does all that need to be taken apart and cleaned? Should I just start all over? Thanks for any help or thoughts.

I have a standard salt set up, single over the counter light strip.
My tank is in our sunroom. Lots of light! Is this a bad place to set up a tank? Will I being looking at a lot of algae in the future? And do I need more light for live rock? Not interested in live corals at this point.

How often do YOU change your fuge light?? I use this light and have been for quite a while I think I need to change it but it seems to be fine.

is this a good chiller? what do you guys think pros and cons. it will be for a 150g tank with 3x 250watt mh lights located in tampa florida

My LFS wants over $200 for a coral catshark is there any online stores that sell a lot of different sharks and rays I am mostly interested in coral catsharks and cortez stingrays.

I lost the sample vial that came with my MarineLand /Aquarium Systems Alkalinity test. It is the same small vial that comes with the Instant Ocean Alk test kit. Does anybody know how many ml the vial is?
