i have 2 golden feeder fish that started mating. the female became very bloated as is expected with pregnancy, but the male developed something very similar to ick just above his mouth. is this something to be concerned about? reason i ask is b/c i have 2 large fantail goldfish and a few other maintenance fish in the 40gallon.

I have a large amount of small live rock in my tank and I'm trying to seed a larger pc of base rock. One of the smaller pcs is covered in small feather dusters which I love watching. Is there any way to move them off of the rock they are on and place them on another pc that will be staying ? If not I will just leave them but if there is a process to move them I will.

I have a brackish tank set-up in a 12 gallon Nano Cube. I started the tank with 2 spotted puffers and a plant (I believe it was a Myrio), after cycling it with only some dead rock and coral skeletons for 1 week. The plant died almost immediately and one of the spotted puffers followed soon after. Within 24 hours of the plant and fish dying, I had a large brown algae bloom covering my coral skeletons and rocks. My SG is at 1.010. I like to figure out how to clear up the algae. The guy at the fish store today told me to soak the rock/skeletons in dilute beach water for 2 hours, followed by a decolorination soak in tap water. I just wanted to make sure it's okay to do that, or if there is a better way to clear up the tank. Any suggestions?

I've been noticing a huge growth in the number of pods in my tank but I have read that some pods are really bad (isopods).

During the day I see hundreds of tiny (1mm) pods on my rocks that look like they have 2 big black eyes. I haven't seen any bigger ones or any of them on my fish. Are these guys good or bad? The only reason im asking is that they look vaguely familiar with Cirolanidae but they are alot smaller then any pics i've seen online.

I have a Fluval Canister filter and it has 4 shut offs so you can service the unit. Is there anything that I can use to make them a little easier to turn on and off?

Is it possible to add chemicals and additives to change the color of zoas? Other than the type of lighting one uses, what other options can one try to get zoas to color up or down?

My zoas stay consistently colored. I know some SPS seem to react to alk and nutrient level but I don't really experiment w/ my levels to see if zoas change colors

Sisterlemonpot..... did you seriously sit around all day copy and pasting threads into word or something to help keep it going while I was gone or what lol

I was smoking over my tank and dropped the ashes in on accident while I was feeding, and cleaning the light covers. Its ok though right because the ashes are just expelled carbon right so I can just shut my carbon reactor of for a day or two and then it will right itself?? RIGHT??
