Honestly your guess is as good as mine right now for how long it will last!

I'v had them for about 3 weeks now(there are 2 Harlequin Shrimp I mannaged to catch one for pics) so I'm testing how long their food lasts right now.

The first week I had hem I had a Blue Linkia starfish. They mannaged to tear his armoff and eat them in 8 days.
After that I let them swat it out for about a week then got another Blue linkia nd just cut his arm off and fed them that.

The arm was gone in about 24hours.

I went to my LFS and saw the chocolatechip tar for $6 so I decided too see how long it will take for them to make it disapear!

I hope to find a cheep Urchin soon and then see how long it takes for them to eat large urchin.

IFbettas nice sailfin! Glad my post is help for others as well posting their first pics!

Here are pics I got this morning after waking up with a hangover.
Thought that the starfish would be showing sighns of dammage today but no. After the Harlequin fliped him over the starfish closed himself up real good. Seems to be working for him for now.
Only time will tell.

Excuse me I need coffey/asprin/water.

Who else is rooting for the Harquin?

Thanks guys, I was going too say I wish I had a better camera or experiance taking photos of my tank but I'll do my best for everybody out there.

Feeding habbits arn't so bad, normally I would just cut of a arm every other week and keep the rest in my sump. Right now I'm in experimetal phaze just watching what they will do/what they like ect.

I love most shrimp in general but the Harlequin are my fav!
When I first got the Harlquin shrimp they acted really funny to each other. They spent most the first 2 days jumping on and bumping into each other which I thought might be agression, so I seporated them just in case. Over that next night the one broke free too be with the other harlequin. It was very cute they wanted to be together so badly.

After my post tis morning I saw the other Halequin. He was ouin the open which is odd for a very shy shrimp. seemed to let me catch him and put him with his buddy & his dinner! In the past catchin the smaller one was like catching a trigger. Normally he just hid and wedged himself into the deepest rock he could find so for him tolet me catch him says somthing(might just be hes hungry but I prefer to think my reef-romeo wanted to be with is Juliet).

Here are the pics

Funny thing, after adding the other Harlequin Vegas called and said the starfish's odds went down to 1 in 12! :)

Yes harliquins are my favorite shrimp to LOOK AT but i would never OWN one.. iam not a person who likes to feed live food and i lkie starfish as well sothe 2 are not compatiable for my tastes,,infact i go to great extremes to get aquatic pets who wont eat each other and some times i have to make a choice of one over the other to buy ..... yes nature is cruel but not in my tanks

You are right not the first person to bring up this fact.
It is their nature so in the wild these things happen alll the time. Just most times its not on a aquarists bill!

These were not a impuslive purchase and I knew very well their nature before I got them. I try to make them at home as much as possible, and don't recomend keeping them unless your prepred to do the same. i.e. if you see a starfish andyour first thought is how cute they are then mabby harlequins arn't for you

Cheers!
