Anybody out there use this stuff?

Texas Holey Rock

Any place local to get some?

I know City Zoo has some small pieces of CaribSea but I was a few larger rocks.

I have never used it myself but my soon to be father in law has it in one of his cichlid tanks and it looks awesome in there. I guess its really cheep in Texas but shipping it to New York costs a bit because its a fairly dense rock.

I think I have used this, but it was called lace rock...looks just like it. I got mine from Blue Zoo out in California. This it was like $1/lb.

I used it in my cichlid tanks and when I had the cichlid business I used to sell it as well. I never used it in a salt tank, I would be some what cautious in using it in a salt tank. If memory serves me it is high in iron as well as lime. maybe an experimental tank is in order. it may be high in silicates as well.. just my 2 cents of thought.

frankandmaura,

ABout half of the rock I already have in the tank is CaribSea Lace Rock. I just don't know how different the Holey rock is from lace rock, if there is any.

Thanks,
Dave

That's what I used to begin with. I just need to redo a little and may want to try a few larger pieces. The box of CaribSea rocks I got were nice but I want to try to get one large 30-40 pounder.
