Text book answers

I have been cruising this board for over 1 year now. I have found lots of very useful information and most members have been very helpful. That being said; This hobby did not progress to where it is today by following text books answers. This hobby progressed by people who were willing to push the envelope and find new ways to move the hobby into the future. When I look at what I am able to keep today (which thrives) as opposed to what I could keep 20 years ago - I am astounded. I give thanks to all those who dared to say: why can't I keep that, I will find a way. No two tanks are the same and no two answers work. Regardless of the norm - we need to continue to push the envelope and find ways to propagate species that we should not be able to keep, not to kill them - but to find ways to continue their existence. When I cruise these boards I am looking for innovative answers, new ideas, not text book answers. The only way we can move into the future is by hobbyists who look for new ways to continue this hobby. If you have found a new way - I - for 1 applaud you. Please post what you have found to work that is against the normal text book answer. I'm sure we will face much scrutiny - but it will also force a much needed debate that will take us into the future of reef keeping.
