Thank you Richard!

Hee...my tank is undergoing a nasty nuisance algae outbreak at the moment. I probably need to up my filtration and water changes. I went ahead and added phosguard as well. I'll take pics as soon as it calms down a little, although it's not quite as impressive as yours!

I love the clownfish! They are quite the little characters. They are quite curious, inspecting everything. The fish that came with part 2 seemed pretty irritated when they first moved in, always peeking at them from behind the rocks and giving them dirty looks whenever they frolicked in the water column. I think he finds them far too playful and colorful, like the college kids moving in next door to a grumpy old man...I can just hear him yelling, "Get off my yard!" He seems to have resigned himself to the fact they aren't leaving though. The kids love them and, of course, their names have ended up being Nemo and Marlin...I would have chosen something a bit more original myself! :rolleye1:

Other than that, the tank is pretty peaceful. Everything that has survived has grown and the rock is still awesome. I just had baby snails appear on the glass last week. :) Stuff like that happens all the time.

Don't stress too much over the algae outbreak. From what I have read a "new" tank will go through one eventually and there is no avoiding it. Did the algae outbreak get worse after you introduced the clownfish? If so, then perhaps your idea to up your filtration may be needed to help your ecosystem with the additional load on the biofilter.

My tank is a war zone. At least it seems that way at times. I have started trying to get the mantis shrimps out because having a full complement of clean up crew makes such a difference. Mantis shrimps are so lazy! I had missed a couple of baby gorilla crabs because they were so tiny and I thought "ah heck the mantis will get them." Wrong! The mantis want an easy meal like the snails that don't quickly scurry away. I was teaching late one night and thought I would take a flashlight and have a peak at the nightlife while the students were taking a quiz. That's when I discovered king kong and its cousin merrily pulling away at a sea cucumber :mad2: After everyone left I stayed at the shop and went crabbing. I caught the biggest one bare-handed. I put it in the refugium, where I've put the mantis shrimps I have caught, hoping it would die a slow painful death. Much to my relief the sea cucumber recovered.

This is for liverock...
I live in the caribbean on the island of st.thomas... there are NO places here that sells any type of liverock, coral, etc. Oly one store that sells SW fish and I rather not comet on the condition of the tanks that house the fishes. I am starting a reef tank in about a month. I NEED these things for my tank. I don't want to harvest from the ocean it is illegal...my options are slim here. You wouls believe its a caribbean island and should be overflowing with these type of things but it is not. What can you do to assist me in these situation?
