That Could Feed an Army!

You can catch the mississippi paddle fish out of the Cimarron river. I have caught them over by Cresent before.

You can catch them under the Keystone Dam, too. I've only caught a small one in my life even though I was fishing for catfish.

The biggest Gar i've ever seen was in the Cottonwood Creek just north of Guthrie. Right across the road from the dog pound there is a huge deep hole that always has some monsters lurking around in it. I have seen them in that hole that would easily go 60 to 80 pounds. I thought i would be a smart *** one time and snagged one in the back with a topwater plug. He first broke my pole off at the handle, then yanked what was left of the handle and me into the water over about a 10ft drop before swimming away laughing at me.

i have seen huge gars come out of the Keystone Dam, they sit doen there and snag them

You may have seen me down there from time to time ;) Actually, one of the most awe inspiring moments I've ever witnessed was hieght of the gar spawning season under the Keystone Dam. Thousands of gar were all along the dam feeding and doing their thing. There's nothing like seeing 6-8ft long gar jumping feet out of the water EVERYWHERE. It was amazing.

Since i can't hardly fish there anymore lol, i'll let you guy in on one of the best catfish hole for monsters. Just noth of Guthrie on Hwy 77, there is a rd. called Beemer rd. You turn west onto Beemer rd. from Hwy 77 and follow it back about a mile or 2 until you get to the RR track bridge. The area from the bridge to about 150yrds east of the bridge is deep and full of big catfish. I looked on Google earth, and it looks like they put in a water treatment facility close by, so it may have a not so fresh smell in the air lol. If they didn't stink it up though it is worth a trip if ya like to fish for big catfish.

That spot is not far from where the cottonwood meets the cimarron river. When we have floods like just recently, lots of big cats come up the cottonwood from the cimarron river and then when the flood goes down they are trapped in the holes until the next flood. The RR bridge is where it gets too shallow for them to get out.

on the subject of big, my brother caught this , this past weekend.

Like I can remember back that far? I don't know what it is. Ask some deep sea fisherpersons. I remember I thought it was big.
