That bulkhead leads to an external pump, right? Those do vibrate and it probably did cause the glass to crack. What epoxy works on glass? I've always recommended silicone for glass repair.

Yes it does hook to the external pump. So I'm guessing that had somethign to do with it. One area we obviously didn't think about...

As for the Epoxy, I'm at work right now. I'll look when I get home today and let you know. Whatever it is, it's doing well, so far... :rolleye1:

So your sayin I was right with my statement??
Soon I'll be Mike Foose!!!:p :spin2:

Yes, I would have to say you were 100% right. It could be caused by vibration, or perhaps the plumbing or pump was leaned upon. It could also be when working on the pump (cleaning/maintenance), it was positioned slightly different than before, and it added some new pressure/stress to that bulkhead.

Foose Jr sound okay to you? :D

Marc, My husband has used 2 different kinds. One kind that was used on the fuge is Loctite Epoxy Gel. It has worked out great. He used a different kid for the sump crack but he doesn't remember what it was called and the tube doesn't have the name on it. He said he chose that one because it is supposed to set even faster. So far no leaks!

Actually I bought a 2 part epoxy from Walmart that said it worked good for glass as well as acrylic (and other things too)

Not sure of the name but it was 1 of about 3 choices and it set in 60secs.:)

Reeforbust, Both of what we used is two part. Might be the same thing. The loctite sets in 6 minutes. The other stuff was faster than that, so he went with that on for the cracked sump so we could get water back in it right away.

Thanks Honeygs!

Update: The cracked sump is still holding it's own. We are considering going with a stock tank for the new sump. I think my husband is going to make it this week.

Well, we decided to go with a stock tank this time around. Not as pretty, but bigger and shouldn't crack! :)

My husband has lareday drilled the bottom holes.

He also added outside tubes so I would know how high the water is.

We need some updated pics of the tank.
A few questions:
What exactly is a UV and what does it do?
And i have heard a lot of talks about "pods" since i have been on RC and i still dont know exactly what they are/what they do and like like. So what do they do? And does anyone have a pic?

The outside tubes were a nice addition. I was debating doing that to my RO container so I wouldn't have to take the lid off.

What did Randy use for the baffles? Looks like starboard to me.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but watch your coral beauty with the acros. When I started, I had four acros, my coral beauty one day started nipping at two of them killing them both. Never touched the other two though.

Now, he is stuck in the Aggressive tank with much bigger tank mates.

This is what a UV does. I'm sure there is a better description out there some where:
UV sterilizers kill free-floating microorganisms like algae, viruses, mold and bacteria. When water passes through the unit, radiation emitted from the light bulb destroys the organisms and breaks down their DNA.

Ohh and how do the 4 clowns get along? And what kind are they ocellaris?
Well, 3 of the clowns decided to beat up the 4th. So I removed it and gave it to my Daughter in law. The 3 got along fine. the one that I think is the male was trying to go back and forth between the other 2. I had 2 mis-barred clowns and I really wanted them to be a pair. I didn't think that would happen with 3 of them in there so I removed the one that wasn't mis-barred. I gave that one to my daughter in law as well. Both pair get along great. I really don't know why the 3 decided to go after the 1 clown. It really happened out of nowhere.

They are all false percs.

Gary I'm not sure what it's called. It is kind of like a cutting board. well in fact it was large sections of cutting board from the fish frys. Randy sanded them down to make sure there was nothing left on them.

My upcoming plans for the tank... The LPS in the tank are growing like wild! I have a lot of SPS on one end and all LPS on the other. I think I am going to set the 55 back up and put most of the LPS in there. The devils hand is out of control! :D I will also be using the old 40 gallon sump for an LPS frag tank. My daughter in law has tons of LPS outgrowing her 10 and 20 gallon tanks. So we will try our hand at fragging. :) I also have several SPS frags I recently got from Reefer Madness. AWESOME!
