the 210gallon upgrade thread

everything looks great. I just set up the same 210 but used coralife aquapro lights. Im having problems with heat in the canopy. But otherwise all went well. no loss of fish or coral. Now I just need to cool things down. I see you vented the ends of the canopy. How about the top?

I only vented the sides because the solaris has fans on both sides and that seems to keep it cool enough. The back of my canopy is also open I don't know if yours is. People have showed me pictures of putting vents on top also I guess depending on which lights you have. I used a roto zip and scroll saw to cut the holes out, and I got the vents from Loews which match the wood canopy I have.

Great thread! I am currently planning a +- 300 gallon system and have gained some insight from your experience. I am also looking at the Solaris I series. As time goes on, I may be picking your brain for suggestions. Happy Holidays!

if you look at the thread I had to trim my skimmer cup by about a 1/4 inch to fit in the stand. My skimmer measures about 27&3/4 inch from top of cup to bottom. I have to take the collection cup out to move skimmer, but works great. I use the roto zip with a fine cutting blade to trim the cup. The door opening is 24 inches, the bottom of stand to stand bracing is 26 inches and the bottom of tank glass to bottom of stand is 29 inches, just be careful because the tank has some bracing of its own which shrinks that 29 inches a little. Again my skimmer is 27&3/4 inches total height and fits well with enough room to lossen cup and pull out.

mbay, how's that H&S skimmer doing on the 210? Also have you been able to dial it in and leave it alone with no adjustment after finding the sweet spot?

skimmer works great and i really haven't made any adjustments on it in a long time.I hooked it up the way melev suggested it in the thread. I also like the skimmer because its very easy to keep clean.

The calcium reactor is also working extremly well. Its keeping my akalinity up and calcium. Alkilinty about 10 to 12 and calcium 447mg

Your tank looks nice and clean.

What intensity (%) are you running the Solaris fixture now?

100% the fixture is at. its actually very bright but pics just dont seem to come out right. and its not blue but more a "crisp white"

Michael is right the lights are at 100% on whites and blues, but its not as blue as it appears in the pics. Solaris does allow you to adjust the blues and whites to any ratio you desire, depending on the effext you want.

What was amazing was my toad stool I have aout a year, started in my 125g, but it never really opened, since I increased the alkalinity to about 10 to 11dkh and calcium to 447mg, it turned out to to gigantic.

today we visited greenwhich aquaria in ct and the store looks amazing. rimless tanks with sfilgoi lighting, great fish with great prices. the store looked like a gallery just amazing.
