The Austrian Drop Off Tank

I'm not understanding you here...

Are you stating that your tanks will ALWAYS be in the living room from here on?

or that you will Never put another one in the living room?

My tank is in the basement, and I can sit on the couch and see it, but because it's down in the basement, I dont get to see it as often as I would if it were in our living room.

Sorry... From now on the tank will always be in the living room!!
I once had my tank in another room and it was a desaster... Now I can check out the corals and also watch tv with my gf ;-)

Whats your opinion on the performance of your Pac Sun Hybrid? Do you like it?

for now i am very happy... sure in the far off sides of the tank there is a bit of lack in light... but i still have to rearagne some of the LPS and SPS...

looking back the dead table acro wasn´t the best choice for keeping SPS... :lolspin:

as i said never again will my tank be in another room as the livingroom! :bounce2:

I also share that opinion. All my tanks have always been in the living room, but the water change are always a challenge because the volume, logistic and spills. I've tried several methods always improving and now I'm considering to build a AWC just to have one single recipient, less work and avoid hoses and traveling with water between the living room and the kitchen or bathroom.

What's your logistic and procedure to make the water change?

my routine is a bucket with wheels... :D
but i know that you mean... spills... you don´t want to know how my hardwood floor looks...

I do auto water changes with the apex dos product. Nice solution in you have an adjacent fish room. The peristoltic pumps are loud.

yes something i plan for my next build with a fishroom! automate as much as possible!!

Instead of wheeling large vessels of water from room to room it is much easier to leave the bucket/tub in one room and use long hoses. Use spring clamps to hold the hoses in place (never trust a hose to stay in place on its own). Keep plenty of old towels around to clean up spills quickly.

I agree with Dave...lots and lots of towels. I used to spill water constantly. You have some nice hardwood flooring. And, clamps...lots and lots of clamps. And, emergency shut off valves nearest hose output. Also, way to disengage pump power right away in case of emergency spillage.

yes i am not happy either... will work on something new! ;)

since you're the inspiration for my "dream tank", I thought I'd share the thread link here:

It's getting closer. I changed it from a dropoff tank to a dropoff + cave tank :)

thanks Mate!!
yes i am following for sure!! hope you can start soon!!!

Cheers

great tank. can you give your opinion on the coral box d500, pros and cons? i'm considering getting one since it seems to be a perfect fit for my sump and 60 gallon mixed reef set up.

thanks

hi!

thanks! i really can´t recommend it... i switched it for a new Bubble King Double Cone 200.
The coral box wasn´t working right for me because it didn´t build a constant skimmate...

now having the Royal Exclusive for over 2 months i am more than happy!

Cheers

Love your latest shots, Flo.
The fourth one looks like it's about to take off and I love the colour and texture. Really nice.
And number 6 looks like there's a little monster face looking up at us from the centre of the coral. :)
