That is great to see/read/hear. Looking a lot better. Do you think the new lights did the trick?

Congrats friend, i am so happy to hear this.

Your and mine are on their way back. I have been doing direct feeding for this badboy and funny enough my mandarin went missing and so did a algea blenny since its been on the rise and very sticky.


Mine is the exact same color as yours. Only mine is about a quarter of the size.
 
Seeing the stripes is why I say "still not there but this is better". It had its stripes when I first got it, then months later the stripes went away. I remember Shutiny saying something like, the stripes on a mertensii indicate that it is stressed. In this case, mine went through stress and is still recovering. If all goes well, in a couple of months the stripes will be gone again.
 
Mertensii are pretty hardy (comparing to gigantea and somewhat haddoni), good luck with it. I used to have mine in spawning pair tanks with 6500K PC bulbs for 2+ years, but I do feed alot.
