The Beginning Of My 300g Restaurant Build

Took a trip to lowes to start gathering some lmbing supplies. heres like half of the fittings. The plan in 2 2" DIY elbow overflows drilled threw the right side of the tank, with 2 1.5" Returns one on left side and one on right side.

I Needed to bring the skimmer up a few inches for the correct water level so i built a little stand for the skimmer section out of 2 " PVC and Eggcrate and tied it all together with nylon strips

Updates.

Started to do some polishing as you can see on the right it was very hazy, using the NOVUS 2 completely eliminated the haxing and it is perfectly clear now. But it appeared to do nothing to the scratches. Im using a Car Buffer and a buffing pad that is attached to a drill. I decied to try and buff out a singled out scratch to see how long it would take and how much pressure etc.. so i picked one in a inconspiculous spot. I started with NOVUS 3 and polished for at least 20 min straight applying more as needed. Then went to NOVUS 2 and did the same for about 10 minutes so after about 30 min of polishing and jello arms the scratch was signifigantly better BUT not gone. I did some research and talked to some local reefers and found out that for deeper scratches it is best to start with some 1000-2000 grit sandpaper. So i ended up buying some on ebay. About 4 days later they came and i went to work. COMPLETELY the way to go i recommend this to anyone trying to buff out scratches from acrylic. IF you have scratches that are semi deep you must go the sandpaper route and then buff with the NOVUS. Over the last week i have been hunting down scratches and using the sandpaper (Which FYI makes it look worse at first , but after novus perfect) then NOVUS 3 Then NOVUS 2 and almost have gotten it to the perfection that i wanted. Here are some picctures of the process i dont have a ton of this procedure cause it was hard to take closeups of the scratches they wouldnt come out.

Always wear your protection with this crap, specially if your inside the tank like i was, the fumes get harsh an it spits in your eyes

Do yourself a favor and go to Harbor Frieght & buy a 7" varible speed car polisher ($35.00) with the velcro wool pad ($7.00). You'll have the tank done in a few hours. As far as sanding, use a D/A sander with 1000 grit. Anything higher is just a waste of time. The polishing compounds will blast right through all the fine scratchs with the bigger polishing pad. Thrust me, You'll want to shoot yourself for not doing this earlier.

Did you use a sanding block with the 1000 grit? or how did you go about sanding out the bigger scratches. I have 1 deep one in my tank I need to get rid of.

I just ended up using my hands (Which was a pain) But im sure you could use a block just make sure you go in all different directions against the scratch.

So how many more scratches do you have to buff out? How long do you think before you have water in the tank? Awesome build by the way.
