Lets turn this into a discussion without pictures.
1. What percentage of the earth consist of water?
A whole lot... at least 2/3
2. What percentage is saltwater, at or above 35,000 ppm salt content I'm guessing?
A whole lot... at least 90% i'm guessing without going to wikipedia or something
3. How many regional collection sights are there?
Not many
4. What percentage of the oceans have been explored?
Very little is my guess... less than 3%?
5. Did anyone hear or see the infusion of Aussie polyps 3 years ago as we see them today? Aussies starting becoming a big thing with how they were marketed, IMO
6. Do you feel there is a limited number of variation that we will see being harvested from the ocean?Uhh.. no! Evolution my firend - constantly happening. It's not only a function of cross breeding, but habitat, predation, and other environmental factors.
7. Do you believe we have seen all that we are going to see and there isn't anything to wow us tomorrow and next week?see number 6
8. Does anyone feel that there isn't a crazy palys that's one solid color through and through, or one that is simply incredible to look at because we never even imagine we'd see this in a reef tank?I think you made your point, LOL
9. What about a yellow zoanthid with an oral disc that's half black and half banana yellow, can you imagine seeing it in your tank someday? Or do you believe something like this simply doesn't exist and never will? that would be cool! is it in your tank by chance?
10. How many harvest/collection sights are there, 8, 9, 10, 12? is the answer one of the above? or is the answer none of the above?
11. Do you think there are even more?
12. What's a CITES PERMIT?
regulated collection in a protected area or pretected species - plants and animals - if I'm not mistaken. I think there are two or three levels of regulation based on if a species is endagered at at risk of becoming endagered.
Lets talk about it, try not to leave yes or no answers though and lets try to leave pictures out of this so it remains a discussion. I'm only asking and would love to hear everyone's opinion. It doesn't matter whether you agree or disagree, share your opinions on how YOU feel.
Thanks

I've been reading of late in a few places, including RC, that the love, excitement, craze of/for zoanthids and palythoas, whatever you want to call it, is dying down or might slack off soon. I've heard locally that this was all just a fad, meaning the rush by many to purchase zoanthids and playthoas is going to drop like a rock soon. I say just enjoy the hobby, keep it a hobby, share, get involved and have fun. But the above had me thinking today, so I thought I'd share this. It's never really been a fad or phase to me personally and I'm sure many of you feel the same. I just like to hunt for interesting things that peak my interest, to challenge me as a reefer to grow them to full maturity and cover a 4 to 6 inch rock. I just hope everyone continues to practice safe reefing habits, good husbandry and the continued love of the polyps we cherish and love to keep. So why are you saying all of this Mucho? Well, if you think you have seen some pretty polyps, crazy combinations of colors, rainbows and stunning hues that dropped your jaw, well trust me, "you haven't seen nothing yet". You are about to see an influx of zoas and palys which you never knew existed. The variations in size, color intensity and brilliance even from a distance has yet to be revealed or seen as we know it. Just you wait and see. Happy reefing and safe reefing everyone.
