Edit on the time of the NAC6 pics: Sorry but I just noticed I wrote 36 hours as when the pics were taken. I'm getting old!!LOL. The pics were taken at 72 hours and the skimmer didn't start to produce until hour 48. Sorry, My bad.

I think you're right!

Too big a skimmer and you'll skim everything out quickly then won't have enough bioload to continually feed it in order for it to produce.

The skimmer didn't kick in unti hour 48 so technically the pics are only 24 hours of production-I'm pretty pumped up about this affordable skimmer!! My ATB multi skimmer only produced clear water for the first week and that sucker was $650.

Victor at ATB told me himself that nothing compares with these in the price range. Couple that with the fact that he is the go to guy on warranty and I wouldn't even look at anything else. Why would I want anything else when this is $160 shipped to your door?

So true!

I purchased mine from CADlights over here in Ontario. Victor offered me the NAC6 at the same price but I was impatient and just drove a couple of miles over here to pick it up. I know Victor is the Bomb and hope I don't regret the fact that I didn't purchase it from him. Eddie at CADlights is very attentive as well and I'm sure if I need help, he will assist.

I am in So.Cal as well, where is this Victor guy? How do I get ahold of him so I can pick up one of these NAC6's?

Thanks,
Bryan

You could go to the Sponsor link , forums link or the ATB website.

You could also get them in California at CADlights. They have an Ontario, CA location. Thats where I picked up mine and they had about 100 of those suckers a week ago.

Hi,

I've had a CAD 50 gallon tank running for about 2 weeks and last night I heard my skimmer (a Bubble Magus) make a weird zffftp noise and the pump quit and won't restart. I've written to Cadlights about a replacement, but based on my experience with them so far (they never did send me my "included" plumbing, had to buy it myself) I don't have a lot of hope for getting a replacement.

From reading in this thread and others I was worried about having the stock pump work long term anyway. So, would anyone have suggestions on where I could quickly get a replacment pump online? I believe my skimmer is the BM mini. The pump says "Atman PH 1100" and there is a sticker on it that says "Bubble Magus 5462." What would be a good brand to replace it with? Just the pump, I still have hope for the skimmer!

Edited to add that the pump says 1380 liters/hour on it, so that's only about 363 gallons/hour right?

resun king 2http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Resun-King-2. You can find the skimmer kits on e-bay,or asm mini G/ or gen x

Sorry to hear about that!!!!! I can't believe Eddie at CADlights was that unresponsive! I will mention it to him when I talk to him. Not Good!

Other than all the issues with plumbing and skimmers, How is the Artisan looking?

I am sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience so far. Cadlights should replace your pump for free. They have a 1 year warranty towards manufacture defects. This is definitely a defect.

I am not sure what a good pump would be to be honest. I have hear great things about the aquabees but the smallest aquabee is probably too big. Maybe an Eheim would work?

If you don't hear from Cadlights, message me and I might be able to help out.

Eh, what can I say - Eddie is a good guy, I just think he's overwhelmed with the roll out of these tanks! We got the plumbing figured out all right. He did not offer a replacement pump under warranty, said they were $65. But I just don't know about paying that for a pump that only lived two weeks! I've heard good things about the Aquabees too. Maybe I can look into a little bitty one. The only thing about that Resun pump is it is a British auction and it says it does not run on USA 110 volt..

I have never dealt with Eddie so this is in no way a shot towards him but the pump has a warranty and he MUST honor that warranty. It is a manufacture warranty. If he doesn't want to deal with it then he needs to put you in contact with someone that will take care of it.

Absolutely right rtparty!

Not an excuse at all, but Eddie is spending alot of time bouncing back and forth from New York to California setting up the new Ontario CA facility. I've been over to the new shop several times and with the exception of a couple other employees, he is the show. I find it a little surprising to see one person running everything on two coasts. His number is on their website at the bottom-I'll pm you. E-mail, and if that doesn't do it, call them. They have to honor the warranty!

Oh, BTW the asm mini G pump will work for the skimmer (Rio pump). It's right around the gph needed.

You guys are right and I e-mailed and asked if I could have info to deal directly with the manufacturer on the warranty. We'll see what I hear. Thanks for the link for the ASM Mini G, that looks good. Maybe I'll just get one of those, and then if I get sent a replacment Atman I can keep it as a back up.

I'm not sure on the output diameter but it is probably a little smaller than the opening at the bottom of the NAC mini so you will have to shim it by wrapping teflon tape around the shaft. I have an ASM mini G skimmer and the little pump puts out tons of micros.

Just wanted to give an update for all the non believers. My BM-150 just hit its one year birthday in my tank. I've only taken it out of the sump once for cleaning (pump didn't need it) and its still pulling the same nasty skimmate that it did the first week I installed. I can't comment on the atman pumps, but the skimmers with the aquabees are rock solid.
