Don't get me wrong, the skimmer seems VERY well made and was producing great foam before the pump died. It wasn't actually skimming much out yet, but the tank is super new and clean. I really think if I can get a better replacement pump I'll be totally happy with this skimmer.

I read through the last 10 pages here but didn't see anyone comment on the Bubble Magus NAC5E HOB skimmer. Anybody have it? Should I just trust it since all the other skimmers are so great? Thanks guys!

Hello!

Did anybody try to put an aquabee in the nac6a yet?
Do you think this would work well?

Thank you!

Greets from Germany!

What is the water height in the sump where the skimmer sits? What number do you have the wedge pipe on?

You have to adjust the wedge pipe to raise the water level in the skimmer. Do it slowly and adjust it so the water comes up somewhat. I have mine set just around the level of the collection cup (about 2.8 for the wedge pipe in about 8.5 inches of water) and it pulls a nice dark green smelly skimmate.

Ok, so I was planning on buying the bubble magus NAC7 skimmer, but my water level in my sump is a constant 8" in the skimmer area. I see on the website it recommends between 9.5" - 11" for the water level. Is this going to be a problem? Thanks

I don't think it will be an issue. My NAC6 is set in 8.5" of water and that seems to be the sweet spot on it.

adjusted wedge pipe to about 2.2 bubbles are right at top of collection cup, seems to be ok in about 9inches of water i'll keep u posted....thanks for the info

Bring it down to where the bubbles are breaking just barely above the bottom plate on the collection cup. With yours being at the very top right now, you will have alot of overflow when it finally breaks in. You need to start lower!

Edit, Sorry but I just read that yours has been running for two weeks so it should already be broken in by now. Mine is set at a hair above 3 right now at 10.5 inches of water. with mine at around 3 (half closed), my bubbles (before a foam head starts to build) break just above the bottom cup plate. When mine decided to start producing, the foam head rose up to the top of the cup shortly there after while still being set at the 3 position. All systems are different but IME, the best place to start for me was just above the bottom plate of the cup. Once you start there, observe the foam and slowly raise it. Each time you raise it you need to give it time (an hour or longer sometimes) to settle in and adjust. Many people make an adjustment and wait 5 to ten minutes then get frustrated and adjust again which slows things even more.

Give it time

thanx i just adjusted the wedge pipe to a lil over 2 1/2 the bubbles are now starting at the bottom plate of the collection cup i will give it a day or so and see how it goes.....

Does anyone on here have the NAC7? If so, how has it held up? Do you need to replace the mesh wheel often? I'm between this and the Eshopps Cone. Thanks

So where the heck can I actually get one of these. Seems like they're sold out. I'm thinking of getting a NAC6 for my 55g w/ 30g sump.

Actually, there's a couple on Ebay, but they have the Atman pump. Should I pull the trigger anyway?

TB Aquatics should have some or even Cad Lights. PM me if you want more info.

I have had ZERO problems with my Atman pump. We will see how it does long term.
