I have the BM100, and my stand is around 30 inches high. I think you would want at least 25 inches of clearance to remove the BM100's cup. A 30" stand seems more reasonable though...

i think im at 32" to the bottom of the tank, so i may wait to get my skimmer in place and then build a shelf after so i can maximize the space, thanks for the fast reply

David, you might want to lay with Water/.Air ratio and see if this gets it silenced

Nah... I'm done playing with this thing. I have enough stuff in my life to fool with. I just want something that works. It's really a shame, I believe this skimmer would be AWESOME were it not for the pump failure. In fact, it WAS awesome until the first pump failed, things just never got back to that level again sad to say.

woohoo got my bm100, its running at a friends right now until i get set up, should be in my tank in a month or so, he said it was producing a foam head within minutes but was running kinda loud, we will see how that progresses.

boohoo, so the thing was making all sort or noise then stopped working, took it apart 2 of the pins had broke off and then jammed the pump, glued them back on and they held, and is alot quieter now, when you plug the air line it is perfect quiet, have the air restricted asper one of the other posts using the mj valve but cant get the water level to come up high enough to clear the cup, i think it is in about 10-11" of water. any tips?

what about the aqua via 2600, it is "supposed" to be a replacement, has anyone tried one? do they fit in the 100? are they indeed a better pump?

what can i do to make this work as good as it is supposed to work?

I would email Chris at Nuocean, they are getting a big order in Mid to late november, He previously said the 100 was getting some changes, maybe he'll have a better pump or pinwheel for you to run.
I noticed there has been a lot of problems with the 100, my 150 has run perfect for 2 months now and I am very happy with its performance.

Let me guess, he saw the post and took it upon himself to contact you?
That's why I love these skimmers, great product and excellent service when there are problems.

Ok so i guess i should chime in here. I am the one actually holding Stonedage skimmer for him until he gets his display setup. I have his skimmer running in my frag tank.
The pinwheel broke on me and i contacted Chris and after a couple of emails and i was quite honest with him and he explained that indeed there was no warranty on the skimmer because it was bought used but he would make an exception.

I must say that i was very suprised and this is what makes me want to buy one of these skimmers and beleive me that i will pass this info on to all that ask me about buying any new skimmers in the future.
Not only is performance on a skimmer important but having reliable customer service behind the product just as important IMO.
It seems that the Altima pump has some issues for sure so hopefully they get this corrected because this will be one of the top competitors in the skimmer market once word gets around and i will start to spread this word. I also hope that the price remains somewhat resonable as it is right know.

Once again a BIG thanks goes out to Chris @ NuOcean.
You went above and beyond sir.

BM100 update 3
My BM100 has been running continuously now for about 3 weeks, no issues. Chamber always seems well foamed.

I have not been able to skim dry yet with this skimmer, but I'm not sure that my tank water is capable of forming a dry, sticky foam head; so I hesitate to say the skimmer won't foam dry. I normally remove a tan'ish or greenish tinted water from the skimmer, it does have a bad (putrid) smell.

I did turn off the skimmer today, remove from the sump and rinse it out really good. I also removed the venturi fitting from the pump inlet and noticed a small amount of dry salt build up on the clear 1/4" rigid tube that the air flows in. After flushing it well with hot tap water, I was able to push it all clear with a q-tip. Put it all back together, in the sump, had to blow start it and it's running good as ever.

Thanks, Kenneth.

just got me BM-150 but l'm getting micro-bubbles come out of the water drain is that normal for break-in or there something i miss need help????

My 150 still puts out a small amount of micro bubbles after 2 months. I've never worried because my sump design takes care of them before they ever make it to the return.

You might want to make sure your skimmer outlet is aimed away from your sump baffles. If you don't have sump baffles, you might want to look at getting one with them. Are you running the skimmer in a section of the sump where the water level is within the recommended height for the skimmer?

Also, one of the issues I think I'm having with my skimmer and wet skimmate, is too much flow through my sump. I'm planning an experiment to reduce the flow through my sump to try to get a dryer skimmate. Reducing the flow rate through your sump may also reduce the amount of micro bubbles that make it back into the display tank...

thank you guys!!
l have a acrylic sump/refug which i build with hads 3 bubble trap's but i still getting some micro-bubbles. so i used a pre-filter bag on the drain pipe and if worked but i hopeing it just normal break-in....

Wow, I would have figured that the BM160 was the only skimmer with an outlet high enough to allow the water to fall out into a filter sock...

I know there is no way I could get the BM100 outlet water into a filter sock and still maintain the skimmer in 10 inches of water.

Quick question... Has had anyone had any problems with the skimmer noise?

I've been running the skimmer for a couple of months now and I've noticed the pump has getting louder and louder. I've been pretty satisfied with the product since I purchased it. So, this concerns me now. I wanted to see what others are having this same problem. I will be contacting nuocean soon.

I thinking of trying to get a hold of the 460EH. It runs 4 Eheim 1260 NWs. Obviously, it's 220 volt but if I had a 220 circut available, an adapter plug, and a chinese power strip there really shouldn't be anything else to worry about correct?
