I'm so excited, I just got a BM180-CS for my 70gallon tank. Yes, great deal from Socaltropicalfish. I always wanted to see what the fuss was about with a cone skimmer and I wanted a good pump. I'm not sure how good the atman is but aquabee... that sounds familiar enough to warrant a few extra bucks.

Nac6 setup

I just got an NAC6 and im wondering how others have them set

What water depth do you have your skimmer in and what # is your outlet pipe set at?

Where do your bubble break in the neck?

I have mine in an eshopps sump were the water lever in the skimmer area is 8 1/2" and my outlet # is about 2 and 1/4, this puts my bubble breaking about half way up the next, its only been running 24hrs so i dont have much results yet.

Your water level will be just fine.

I have mine set in 9" and the setting is about 3 1/4 or so. I would leave it set at max for 48 hours then dial it in slowly. You will probably keep it right around 3 but every tank is different.

Just remember that when you set it to let it sit for like an hour before changing it again.

Well - it's been a month since I took out the bubble plate and I can say for sure that this thing works better without it. My water level's at 9-1/2" and the skimmer's set for around 2-3/4. It's pulling hideous sludge at a faster rate.

Yes, I took it out completely. Bubble plates are supposed to reduce turbulence. It was my theory that the bubble plate in the NAC6 is too small and that the skimmer isn't getting the true benefit out of it. So I took it out and the bubbles fill the column more and I believe it works a little better - with some minor tweaking to re-adjust.

got Nog?

Awesome! I am fascinated by my skimmer nog. its something I look forward to cleaning out daily.
My wife hates when I clean it :p she want me to use a brush but I keep using the filter floss I'm changing at the same time, I think it works better and doesn't scratch the acrylic, I do it by hand and the smell sometimes is fear factor level

What is the diff between the BM100 and the NAC6? Would the BM100 be a good skimmer for a 55 gal med bio load tank?

I only have the original BM100. For what I can see on the NAC6 the Neck is wider and the exit pipe is different. It must pull better air and have less turbulence on the body, everything else looks pretty similar.

But yes, a 55 med bio load it's not a problem for this skimmer

Hey Guys;

I love my BM100v2. It skims like a champ. I've had it for about 8 months. The atman pump has never given me any problems at start up at all. One minor quirk is that you have to wait a few days after cleaning the skimmer before it starts to skim at previous levels again. But I'm sure this is the case with all skimmers.

What I want to know is whether there are any useful mods out for this skimmer, particularly, whether its possible to upgrade to a different pump, like Eheim, Sicce etc. I know that the body is specifically made for the Atman so this might be difficult. IMO BM should either place their pumps externally or leave more room in the skimmer body, so the user can upgrade their pumps when they want. If there are pump mods out there for this skimmer, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Izolnier I found on my skimmer that I have, if I only clean the neck slightly it starts to produce skimmate faster, then on the second dumping of the skimmate I clean it thoroughly.

Interesting method. I'll give it a try. Now, does anyone know of another pump that can fit this skimmer besides the Atman? I think I've heard before that the Atman was identical to another type of pump (forgot the name), although this pump wasn't considered a great one.

Atman pump is the same as Via Aqua but the inlet hole is smaller than the atman so the Venturi will not fit. Need a 1" threaded hole.

should have left a coke label on it and stuck it in a friends fridge.lol
yummy
Have a Coke and a smile!

I am joining the ranks of the Bubble Magus Club. Just ordered a NAC 7 from SoCal Tropical Fish Outlet. Been running an ETSS downdraft skimmer for the past couple years. Never been overly impressed with it. It would either produce green tea or the nog would collect in the neck and never make it to the collection cup. But it was a gift from my brother-in-law who upgraded to a Beckett Injector skimmer from PM. So I couldn't complain. I've been reading alot of good things about the BM units. So can't wait to see how it performs.
