wow all that talk of distributors. i think whoever sells alot automatically becomes the dealer. exclusive dealers arent practical because who knows if they will sell alot? well i got my BM NAC-3 upgraded from CADlights. i was hesitant at first, but CAD Lights provided really good customer service so i bought it from them instead of the other brands.

anyway i sell wine and exclusivity is a daily conflict amongst all the brands.

just want some reviews on BM200P, BM180CS-P, BM220CS cone. How's their performance? it seems that the ratings indicated on their is overrated?

TIA

I have had my BM200P for about 4 months now and love it. Great foam production, pump starts great every time, nasty sludge of about 1-2" daily. I am still playing with the settings and changing the viscosity of the skimmate to see if my tank/corals respond differently.

Here are the comparison pics of my NAC6, 4 days with Bubble Plate and Box and 4 Days without Bubble Plate and Box. Appears i got the same amount of skimmate but the skimmate without the bubble plate is definately darker color, hard to tell in the pics though

Looks like you actually pulled a hair more without the plate - unless it's the angle of the pic. Darker too - glad it's worked out for you.

I'm thinking of doing another mod for it too, but I'm not going to do it till I need to pull it all out for cleaning again...

So all you did was remove the bubble plate and cylinder? Pretty impressive if it really pulls out darker skimmate. It amazes me how skimmate can vary from tank to tank. Some are light and some are dark.

I'm having a hard time getting my NAC7 dialed in. It's a new tank with a pretty light load (couple clowns, cleaner shrimp, a few small frags). Tank is 60g. Skimmer has been running for a week now. I ran the skimmer in a 5g bucket of water and vinegar for 5 days when I first got it.

I have it in 10in of water, pipe is adjusted to barely under 4. I can't seem to pull a lot of skimmate out, it's very light colored. I've never used a skimmer before so I'm not sure if it's because of the light bio load.

I've tried adjusting the pipe very slightly (turned just barely) towards 3 to raise the level just a tad. A few hours later, the cup is full from it overflowing.

I can't seem to find that sweet spot. I've tried setting the initial water level to break right at the bottom of the cup, But it's hard for me to tell if I got it right, since the foam head is blocking visibility.

Any tips or tricks to dial it in?

Also, the skimmer is pretty loud. The hum it makes is the loudest equipment in the tank. The hum is loud enough to cover up the Mp40 "whirring". Any tips to quiet it down?

Thanks!

Set the water level in the body of the skimmer so that when the foam head (cushion) starts to build, it builds just above the bottom of the cup. Then leave it alone. I almost gave up on my NAC6 after day 5 , then out of no where it kicked in and started producing. After a week yours should be coated, but all systems are different so it may just take a bit longer. My 6 is quiet. As quiet as my BK with red dragon. The 7 uses the mesh like the 6 so if you haven't already, check the impeller and make sure there are no cracks in the cage and that the mesh is contained in the cage and not loose. If loose it could be causing some resonation in the body and that can make it louder.

Got my NAC 6 today. While unrapping it/piecing together the wife said "wish you got that excited about me." Of course my response of "Me too" earned me the look...

Its been washed in warm water, and is in a 10 gal tank of salt water running to help clean it before it goes into the sump. It seems to be a little noisy right now. Not really loud but does have a hum louder than a mag pump. Will this noise decrease as it breaks in?

LOL! Truth hurts eh?

It should quiet down for you. Mine is louder some days than others... I just ignore it for the most part.

I got my nac7 several days ago. getting it together was a breeze. it's silent...and seems to have broken in fairly quickly after a good vinegar bath..a nice foamy head.

seems to go all day just fine, but in the AM i check it, and the cup is almost full of clear water (with a little yellow tinge). It is sitting in about 9 1/2-10" of water (constant level). the skimmer is set to MAX, if i turn the pipe either way, the water level rises in the cup to overflowing.

advice?

raise the skimmer to 9 inches or lower the sump level to 9. sounds like it started "truely" breaking in, and the water level is too high in the body if you have to run it fully open. You may have to bring it down further but I would start at 9 inches.

You'll be fine
