The Chalice King

That's ridiculous if that's accurate color. What's even more ridiculous is people that would pay that much money!! Haha But seriously, a beautiful piece. I wonder what it's like under normal lighting.

Wow, a grand for an eye seems cheap compared to what the My Miami was at it's debut. That's sad. Kind of like marveling over how "cheap" gas is this week compared to last.

Well lucky for the people nocking the price there ARE people who will pay that price for a coral. That is a good thing because that's the only way the rest of us will bs able to get our hands on a frag. It's going to take a while but hopefully that coral gets grown out, chopped and sold many times over.

I would not pay that if I was a billionaire...totally ridiculous IMO.....I did see a much better looking chalice go for over 2 grand on Ebay a few weeks ago but that was for the whole colony something like 5x4 if I remember correctly...But I still would not have bought it for that price.

I will admit it is nice just not $1000 an eye nice....To each his own I guess

Funny thing is that's a saturated macro shot of a newly imported run of the mill Acan rotundoflora. A lot of them look like that when they first come in, especially with the main color on it being brown, then they turn into your usual rainbow/orange crush looking colonies. A fool and his money should stay away from the scammers at bay corals lol

 That was my first thought, that or an acan echinata.

Very sad.

That's one way at looking at it. The other is that it's because of people willing to pay these prices that they keep coming out with a latest and greatest type of coral. No one buys it? Price is going to drop. Because it doesn't matter if this was some $30 transshipped wild coral that the place was lucky it looked "unique" out of the bag, coral seller don't make money if all they're doing is illuminating a coral in a frag tank.

IMO, I'm not terribly impressed because one tiny portion has some color. Grow out eyes that are fragged and see if it has that same multi-colored "rim", or if that was simply a mutation in the cells near that area only

This Chalice was picked up on eBay for $3500 for the 3x3 colony. At $1k an eye they'll turn a nice profit. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1306688942.849439.jpg

That's what I don't get, their macro shot has more brown in it than all the other colors put together, and that was probably the best part of the coral that they could find to take a picture of. If someone's dumb enough to buy it, when they post a picture of the frag in a few months everyone's going to go "oh, I've seen that thing tons of times."
