The Cleveland Zoo

i just went on shedd aquarium web site it looks like a awsome place to go maybe make a weekend trip there and check it out.there is something i love about the ocean and the wildlife that i cant get enough.to bad i dont know how true it is i was watching history channel and they said the way global warming is going the coral reefs will be gone by 2050,that would be a sad day indeed.the human race is a messed of species and what we do to our planet.

I haven't had any direct dialogue with the zoo. Quite frankly I wouldn't really know where to start as I don't believe the club has any official affiliation with the zoo.

Although its pure speculation, my guess would be they will somehow incorporate what few aquatic displays they will have with the rainforest or some other area of the zoo. I would be surprised if they completely abandoned some kind of aquatics display.

The whole area around the Shedd is pretty cool too with the Nat. History Museum, etc. The only negative today was they Ocean exhibit with whales, etc. was closed for renovation. However,it will reopen on 5/22.

I didn't realize we didn't have any affiliation with the zoo. Is that something maybe we as a club should try to get more involved in? As far as the aquatics go.

Former Toledoan here. The Toledo Zoo passed its levy and they'll be refurbishing the aquarium in the next few years. I was only at the Cleveland Zoo once, and I was disappointed. Of course, it was a few years ago when the entire eastern seaboard lost power. Anyway, Newport and Ripley's in Gatlinburg are awesome. I've also read that the Georgia Aquarium is supposed to be really cool too. I'd love to see Cleveland get its own Aquarium too.
