The Crack House

I have been distracted with other things going on in my life and haven't been posting as much as I would like.
Here are some photos.
I picked up the new Apex, This thing really allows you to geek out hard and bring your tank to the next level.

I swapped out the LED light for an ATI 8x80W, still messing with the bulb combo.

When this photo was taken hair algae was taking a pretty strong hold on the tank, It has since loosened its grip.

Under the hood shot. Finally starting to get things organized enough to where I'm not ashamed to post a photo lol.

My supervisor said I was doing a really poor job with the plumbing. I was shoved out of the way and he then got to work!:hammer:

Of course I forgot a few random fittings. He INSISTED on coming to the store to make sure I didn't same the same mistake again. Although he says I am a bad driver, I wouldn't budge on that one. :lolspin:

Attention hound! I have one too.

Like lg2575 said, Thank you for your service!

Love the distressed finish on the stand (and the design of the stand). It really works nicely with the barn wood, which is also very cool.

I got a good lol out of the beginning of the story, moving the tank in and working on it before pretty much anything else in the house! Awesome!
Seems to me your priorities are in order. :D

Why not post something?

Why not post something?

Well things have been a bit hectic around here and I have not been able to post like I wanted/planned to.
This post is for the equipment junky inside most of us.
I was cruising with Kalk in my top off but knew I would get to a point where it would no longer cut it. I slowly picked up the pieces I would need to go with 2 part.

I have also put online GFO and bio pellets that I had initially plumbed the manifold for. The skimmer is really taking off now.

Do you mean the raised edges with the inlayed center?
Just cut the wood on a 45 (in my case, you can cut them in 90 if you wish) and attach to the outside of plywood pretty much.

It's all flush though. So you put plywood then a frame on that right but how did you make it flush?

Tank is looking great! nice clean set up and beautiful stand. My only suggestion would have been to make it a little more water resistant. Also, dont u think that is a lot of bio pellets for the reactor size? make sure they stay fluid. if they clump up they can be a huge nightmare.

Just curious, how would you have made it more water resistant? The doors are coated in a clear poly, the interior is an exterior paint, and the outside is coated in wax.
The reactor is packed to capacity for sure. It is admittedly undersized for the tank and I am trying to squeeze every bit out of it. The pellets have room to tumble nicely with no clogging. Took a bit of fine tuning and tweeking to get it there.

well im pretty sure that water can still get through polyurethane but I could be wrong. Exterior paint definately will still allow moisture in to an extent. some sort of vinyl or epoxy sealcoat would be best. That being said, the stand is beautiful and it should be just fine as long as it is maintained. Really was not trying to knock your build. I think you are doing an excellent job.
