The difference between

rope

Could someone please tell me the difference between the f.percula t.percula, and the ocellaris. Also, I have a 75G reef tank set up w/no fish in it now. It has been set up since December, and looking great. I am wanting to put a pair of clown in it to add to my bulb tip anenome. What would be best?

false percula is Amphiprion occelaris. true percula is A. percula. Neither host naturally in BTA, and may never accept one in the aquarium. A couple good places to look for info: the FAQ at the top of ths forum, and Fautin and Allens ebook for their clownfish/anemone book :

IME 90% clowns will eventually take to a BTA.

Clown choice is personal and a 75gal is a reasonable size for most species. It is going to depend on your mix of other fish.

You can expect a Maroon or Clarks to take to a BTA immediately, but they are not always the best choices for a community environment.

Good luck and research your clown choice patiently, they live a long long time.

I've had my BTA for almost a year and my ocellaris just started using it as a host- FINALLY!!!
They used everything else.

So if my dumb clowns did it- maybe there's hope for yours.
