Chris and Nick,

Thank you for coming on RC and starting this thread. The wealth of knowledge here is immense!!

A couple quick questions:

1) Aside from intense lighting, what factors are most important in your opinion to creating yellow and red coloration?

2) What do you use to dose zinc and do you try to maintain a specific level of zinc or do you simply dose a regular amount?

3) Aside from zinc if a home aquarist is going to concentrate on specific elements which are most important for intense coloration?

4) My Microlados grows in thin branches not the beefy growth I see elsewhere. Any guesses on possible causes?

5) Any updates on shipments to the US? Do you have a regular US buyer?

Chris/Nick i pulled this over from the zinc thread where it was posted - hope thats ok

If you look up the trace elements in nsw the levels of trace are so little and all you need is for your phosphate levels to be over 0.02 and the trace elements will get binded but do remember nsw po4 levels is 0.0018 from memory so very low out at the coral reefs here in Australia,

There is a paper out on goolge trace elements from balling thats a good read but you can start from there
Cheers chris

1st up thanks for sharing/posting what you have,I just wanted to see if it was possible to get some simple-man elaboration to what you said there that i highlighted in bold.......Are you saying if your PO4 is higher than 0.02 then the trace metals are getting bound to the phosphate & then basically "unavailable" to the corals?
Where Nick posted Po4 levels of 0.43 was that a differant system to the higher metals system or is that what the Po4 is & your metal dosing is what you've worked out to stay ahead of the binding issues to keep the trace "available"?

I was wondering the same thing even though it seems an obvious answer, it never is in this thread :)

We need more pics guys! All thoes across sitting there just waiting to get shown off. I want to see some of the mother colonies 😁

that is the working theory yes.... we also have to run nutrients high to protect from the high par...we have really only been using metals like this for 5-6 weeks and so far the zoox has gone ballistic lol... the colors we are getting are spectacular...

Spectacular colors huh? I don't believe it, we need pictures for proof :p

Just have to say this is the most interesting thread I have read by far. I love your guys approach to aquaculture and hope you change many people's thoughts about how to best keep acropora. I read that zinc thread which was interesting even with the guys in there, who had to have answers and proof, burning questions through the roof. I would like to hear any updates on your methods if there are any. Did you guys ever get a paper out or is it still in the works?

Feel free to post pictures of your entire stock, I've got nothing but time to look them all over! Seriously, nice corals and great info, thanks. :)

Hi
Do you ship to the UK or EU dealers were we can get your quality frags from. I have sent a pm with regards to exports.

thanks Bill
