The Heat is On....

Good evening,

I have a stable set up, 5.5x2x2 that has been running well for over a decade in which I keep a selection of softies along with my lovely Condy nem....

....over the past 10 days or so the temperatures here have been really high - well, high for the UK anyway, and my nem has been migrating down the rockery until today when it hit rock bottom....when it got as far down as it could it slowly slid under the rockery and out of sight:uhoh2:

I'm hoping that this is just a natural reaction to the excessive heat and that my nem has just headed south to get away from the "sun" looking for cooler water and that when the temperature settles back a bit he will re-appear to find the light/food?

Am I right in thinking this?

What is the temp of the tank? What is the normal temp?
My tank get to 85F with no problem but I normally keep it at 83F

I normally run at around 79f but with the weather here it has regularly gotten up around 84f over the last week or so?

My cube when it was upstairs on the main level (no chiller) would go from 83-84F day time to 79F night time and swing daily like that. Never had an issue with BTAs, fish, corals, etc. Now the large tank is in the basement and stays 80.7F constantly... Like Minh said, temp probably isn't the issue.

HMMmmmmm, I've had the nem for several months without it moving an inch....in fact nothing has changed in there except the high temperatures?

Today, I've kept the windows closed and had 2 room fans on full blast to keep the air moving and the tank has stayed fairly constant at 81f and the nem has poked out from the rockery a little....it looks a bit bleached now!!!

Would/could the heat have caused zooxanthelae shedding?? and if so, what would be the best thing to rectify it??

Sorry for so many questions but I'm hoping to get things right back on track ASAP
