the heated algea remover

It boils the corraline and kills it. I would like to get one, but so expensive is this hobby. Damn Corraline grows so fast and thick on my Acryllic. I hate scraping it off and putting scratches on my tank.

Issue I see is that it's a large magnet but the actual boiling spot is only about 1x1 and it's not on the edge which means no matter what you do you can't get into corners or edges for that matter... probably still easier and faster than manual removal but dang, if you have a large area to clean, could be there a while.

Yup, but you cant beat the clarity of acrylic unless you pay for Starphire or Low E glass. Just got to be a bit careful when you are trying to clean acrylic. If I ever upgrade, it will be acrylic since I cant afford starphire. Corals just looks way better.

But the cool thing about acrylic is that it is lighter. My 180 was havy enough. I could move it with two people. Some grunts, but no big deal. I could not imagine if it were glass. I would like glass for the scratch part, but I like acrylic better.

It was 1/2" anything thicker must be laminated and then the $ goes way up! Was it 22 or 28 a sqft? I don't remember now, it was tons more then plate glass... I agree with Dan, and the reason I'm going acrylic on most of my tanks including my Dad's (which got the green light last night BTW :D ) We don't want to have a tank moving party with 8 people just to lift it... 2 or 3 of us can move a 220 made of acrylic.

I could use some help if you want to see what it's all about... :D I have a couple sumps and possibly another tank to finish before I can get started but I hope to order the acrylic next week.
