heres my first mod on a mj600 with a nitro prop.....

Its kind of ghetto looking but I acually prefer it over the sieo m1100 which is on the other side of my tank. Half the size and almost as much flow. Very disperse flow too, which I really like!! awesome mod! thanks D.

I really want to do this on my 54 corner and have two PH's. Would 2 600's be too much flow? 2 400's? And what size props should I use on the smaller maxi's. I just don't want a huge sandstorm and this is a new setup so I have to buy the PH's and just want to get the right ones.
Thanks.

quick question , is this prop on the right direction ?

i made two with the prop on the other way and they worked out well and the stopper functioned almost instantly every time . then it dawned on me that i think have the prop on backwards so i made a few like the one posted above and they all work well but the the stoppers don't see to function as well and seem to take a long time to get it to turn around .

any tips for getting the stopper to function better ?

1 600 is perfect for my 55. When I added the 2nd on the opposite side of the tank, some of my softies got pretty ticked off. My GSP (which is in the middle where the flows collide) called it a night at 2 in the afternoon!

I had to use my prop in that orientation. It would not run the other way. I thought it lookes backwards but its the only way it will run.

This Thread is out standing. Thanks to all you great DIYers. A big thanks to you D. I want to do this mod as soon as I can. I love this hobby, and I'm not wealthy,so I have to DIY as much as I can. The Tunze streams are way out of my reach. As soon as
I can get the props,I'm going to try my hand ,doing this mod to my MJs. Ted

Anybody no what stream mods pump, pumps more water?

Maxi-jet 1200 with the 1.75" dumas prop.

Or the

Hagen 802/70 with the 1.75" dumas prop.

dont know guessing about the same for the 802 think you need like a 2.5 inch prop or somthing to make it worth it.. not sure though.. wanting to try it my self as well..

hey look, spazz finally jumped in on this. he should have fun tweaking them like he does everything he touches, DART NW seems to come to mind. well cant wait to see what he makes with it, the maxi spazz.

im just doing this for one of our club members. it was his idea and i just cut them on the cnc router. he will be over later today with some 2" props and some 1200's to see if we can make a huge stream out of it. stay tuned for more info. he he he

has anyone ever thought of using the smallest eheim pump and a 3" prop to make a huge stream for large reef tanks? i think it would be cool if we could make one that pushes about 10,000g an hour.

the maxi 1200 will only spin a 1.75 no larger than that. i have an assortment of large octura props that the maxi wont turn.

yes, mod up a eheim for us, i have some octura 1465 props that would really put out some crazy flow if i had a nice looking pump to spin it

Stayed up until 3 am working on this. I have a 1.5" prop on the mj1200. The flow is incredible - the mj flies around the test tank when I'm not holding it. I am going to run it on a wavemaker so tried turning it on and off several times. At leas t every third time the prop would not spin on start up, any ideas? Also i must not have the stopper on right as it sometimes would run in reverse. Thx

make sure the prop assm. is not cocked where the rigid air line is connected to the magnet, sometimes i notice that the flex airline would allow the assm to bind up at this point causing alot of drag on the cf rod and also causing the mj to stop spinning for no reason. also post some pics of the setup so we can help you with the stopper part

I have some Titanium filler rod for TIG welding, but it is a hair smaller in Dia. than the MJ shaft. Do you think it would work? Ted

It just doesn't fit tight in the little MJ shaft end cap,but it doesn't seem to have any end play. Maybe .002" Ted
