You have changed a few skimmers over the years. What makes you decide that a skimmer under performs?

I am going to use your indicator(s) to decide whether my skimmer (BM NAC 6a) needs replacing or not. I know that based on its specification I need a bigger skimmer, but I want to be sure that in practice this is the case.

Hi, my general recommendation is that the skimmer inject an air flow no more than 8-10 times the volume in gallons aquarium ... on top of that, it is very easy overskimmer too and alter the biological balance of the aquarium. In your case, if I'm not mistaken your skimmer injected about 500 l/h of air, which is quite oversized for your volume of nearly 50 gallons ... I do not think you need one more powerful skimmer.

Do you think any colors are expressed less under a whiter rather than bluer mix? Have you ever tested the PAR levels in your reef?

Personally I like the aquariums with intense lighting and natural colors. Combinations too blue give lower intensity feeling and although they may emphasize more the fluorescence of some colors like green or neon, mask many others, especially the roses.
A whiter lighting allows better appreciate the full range of colors: pink, yellow, blue, purple, etc ... any color looks blurred.
I don´t tested PAR levels in my tank.

-2 Kz Superblue.
-2 Kz Fidji purple.
-4 Kz New generation.
-4 Kz Coral light.

I completely agree! Well put, I finally am getting an ati fixture and am really looking forward to a few extra bulbs to play with some different whites. I only run one blue bulb and the rest white so I am on the same page as you for sure. Your tank is one of my favorites because of the lighting you run and colors you get.
