The Iwagumi Reef

IMG_0696_redimensionar.jpg

damn that is a big scratch! looks like it is on the outside, if so you can use toothpsate on it and it can reduce it. SHe is a cute lil flame.

I like your selection of fish, mostly smaller godies and the like. I have wanted to do this but my 2 clowns prevent that.

Your tank is INSPIRATIONAL!

I've always wondered why more of us reefers haven't taken queues from those in the FW planted world on more than occasion. Fantastic work my man!

Your tank is very beautiful! I was wondering about your angelfish with your clams, do they do okay together?

Thanks
No problems with my angelfish (C. Acanthops and C. loriculus actually, and P. dyacanthus the first months: he jumped out of tank) and clams or corals.

It is not the first time I see two of my Trimmas Rubromaculatum attitude of courtship, but this morning I found to see more loving than usual, so although the crystals were a bit dirty I decided to record them. (These things not always happen when you want, je,je)
I take the camera, mount the lens and start recording, my surprise was when he was recording as I realized that what I was seeing was not a simple courtship ... this is a spawing!

Part One: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QE0BmI4Ue78

Final Act: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvRg1gC0xCQ

I could not get them closer, (definitely so miniature in Iwagumi will have to be ordered a macro lens this Christmas), but if you look you can see how they have sexual organ completely outside. The largest is the male I think, because although in this species I have not seen any external feature that allows me to distinguish the sexes in other species trimmer to keep (Benjamini and Cana) if that can be easily sexed because the males have finished in the dorsal fin and the females beak shorter and rounded, and all the males are larger, so I guess these is the same. At the end of spawning the female is removed and the male who then and now remains careful and avoid placing anyone near.

And a group of five tiny trimma sp. (though I've searched the web I have not found this species):

FYI. These aren't Trimma sp. which explain why you can't find reference. :) These are Coryphopterus personatus aka masked goby.

Here is mine in my nano. Instead of lay eggs, they give live birth at night.

You have a very nice and clean tank and I love your fish selection. Keep up the good work!

Ok, this is my fish stock currently:

These are the two "giants" of the Reef:
- P. Hepatus: he was my first marine fish. I bought 8 years ago when I was a tiny 2 cm long fish.
- Z. Flavescens: is 6,5 years old.

Thank you for posting your aquarium. It keeps getting better and better.

I think the small fish focus brings everything to balance that many try but few succeed.

Mind blowing tank, aquascape and colors my friend! Kinda what i'm aiming for my next build. What brand is your tank, or it's custom made? Thanks and good luck ;)
