The Light has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not having a heating problem I'm having a lack of heating problem..... I can't get the darn heater adjusted to keep the temp stable now that I have the new light. Now is that a first or what... The light isn't giving off enough heat to keep the tank heated. LOL

Very nice! I'm confused though, are you saying that you have a $2300 light but don't have a temperature controller? If not I know what your next purchase should be. ;)

Wow, your lace rock looks great under the Solaris. If you are willing to spend $2300 on lights, then get some coral in this tank and put these lights to use.

BTW, I have personnaly experimented with 1watt version LEDs and they do not live up to the life expectancy of 11 years.

You should invest in LUX meter to determine what the bulb intesity is now and in the future. I would be curious to know the LUX of these lights. My 250watt MH run 32k LUX compared to T5 at 14k Lux and VHO at 9k LUX.

My LED 1 watt light strips, while looking good, only produce 5k Lux and they fail to equal the MH or T5 lights when trying to grow corals.

Any idea what the PAR rating is?

Do yourself a favor and get a digital temperature controller. Not only does it help keep your temperature stable it can also save your tank. It would suck to lose everything because your heater sticks on. I think the Ranco controller I bought was one of my best purchases.

Yep I did. Ordered it after talking to the led designer on it for about an hour questioning him about the light.

Im about 75% sure that I will be ordering one of 48" lights for a 120Gal that ill be setting up and seeing your pics makes that a little higher. Looks very nice.

Everything I've put in the tank so far has had a positive response. One leather that's in the tank has turned in to a totally new animal. It's gone from pink to a nearly dark purple and has what were short little polyps to these long extended ones. Doesn't even look close to what it did a couple weeks ago under PC's. A group of zoas have also transformed from reaching for the sky to short fat wide polyps as well. I'll try and get some good updated shots of the tank soon.

Personally I can tell you even 2X150 DEs are pushing it on a 120.
There is no way that that system can handle a deep tank yet, it will in a few years Im sure, but right now I dont see it casting enough light to the lower zones at all. Maybe if you were trying to do a deep water tank but thats about it. Just some friendly advice before you potentially make a costly mistake.

Wow, I must say after seeing the lights on your tank Lt, I wan't to know more. I have a 250w over my 50 and that seems to keep the temp pretty high.. so I had to get a 1/4 hp chiller.. and my electrical bill shot way way up. 400$ light and 800$ chiller.. not to mention the 50 bucks a month on electricity... LEDs seem to be looking better and better.. But I would really like to see some good results with some BTA's and maybe some sps before I take the leap :)

Just looking around, 3watt LEDs can be purchased various places. I'll bet a creative DIYer could retrofit a regular hood with little trouble and a couple hundred bucks. Sounds like a fun project, but personally my plate is a little full right now.

BTW-- what in the world is a "heater" and why would you need one?

Yeah since I don't have a small sun over my tank like somebody we all know I have to heat up the water another way.
