well, after a long abaited wait, here he is...

So far nibbled a little food, but its only a few hours since hes in the reef, so a little early I think to get my hopes up...

well, first morning and the third feed so far, and hes eating something, possibly brine shrimp or mysis, not sure yet, but he is constantly grazing and picking food left on the tank floor.

I can confirm visually that he is eating about as much as the orange filefish started off with, so hopefully within a couple of days, i can find out what hes earing, try other foods that are explicit to his diet, and get him on a variety.

Am keeping a strict feeding diary log, so once i get this down and after 3 months and its a solid success rate, ill post the findings for all, so if you fancy them (why wouldnt you!!!) then youve got some solid evidence to go on...

end of first day and have found a specific tailored diet that the rest of the fish leave alone, and both the moorish and the achilles eat, the achilles out competes the idol for this though, but the idol gets enough food from the meat feeding regime for a partial diet....

However the tang does not eat or actively participates in the other food, leaving eough food for him to graze with the rock and the foods the achilles does not eat.... So all in all, a productive day... Now need to find a suitable, dependable regime tailored to his needs.

Should have this figured out by the end of the week and solid detailed findings with bulletproof evidence by the end of the week..

Sorry to keep you all waiting, these things take time!!!!!

one step back taken today....

one step back taken today....

Well, got up this morning and found that the achilles has blistered up with ich, and has decided to give a little pressy of them to the moorish.

Had this before in a tank with horrific water quality with a trigger, and sorted this.

Was expected since this is a common shipping stress problem and will simply clear up, as ive had this before, they arent stressed, scratching or flashing and the UV is running 24/7 now until further notice and water changes will be done 10% per week and top offs nightly....

Feeding side of things, hes feeding on dried seaweed sheets, herbivorous pellets and is competing for the daily meat food dose so this is fantanstic...

To answer the above question, the tank is 125g deep, occupants are:
Niger Triggerfish
Multicolored Angelfish
Orangespotted Filefish
Perc clown and her Haddons Carpet
Achilles Tang
3 Blue Chromis
1 Yellowtail Damsel
Lawnmower Blenny
Collare Butterflyfish

Well, quarantine would have been a great idea. Now your entire tank has ich. Do you have a plan to treat the entire tank? Also, an Achilles tang won't do well in a smallish tank. These fish are difficult at best and really like to swim.

getting Moorish Idols to eat has never been a problem for me but even when they do eat they eventually die after about a year , be very careful if they eat pellets i find there compressed digestive systems dont always seem to handle the pellets easily and they seem to swell inside the fish, so always soak pellets before you feed them to the idol, i hope you have long term success!

+1

Tank is too small for and Achilles, MI AND a Carpet nem...sounds like disaster waiting to happen. When I had my 225g, My Carpet ate many fish before I found out what was going on and it was sold quickly after that. And my Achilles would do laps and looked cramped in a 225g so 125g is like a beta box for them. Good luck either way.
