The MJ mod: kit or from scratch?

Hey all, my reef has been on auto-pilot lately because I've been busy so I just found out about the MJ mod and other great RC happenings lately.

About this mod, is it more efficient to build it from scratch or just buy the kit from somewhere like mjmods.com? Is it that much more time consuming to build it from hand?

I'm sure lots of you have had experience with both methods.
Thanks!

dont buy the 900 mod there. there too tempermental get the 1200 and youll be happy

i have 2 900s that i could not get to work with there base small prop. 1435 [im not done trying :)] i put the same mods on a 1200 and it works perfect first time.

i like getting my parts there. there all in 1 spot and there not out of line with the prices

I personally like the kits. I have made them myself and also made a few at a group meeting with the kits. you might save a few bucks doing it yourself but the kits are awesome.

Their housings are too closed off for the bigger mod's. Maybe I am greedy but I want all the flow for my wattage.

Umm...holy crap.

THanks Snarkys, I'm gonna order one of those. I have a cordless craftsman rotary tool, and the battery life isnt long enough to do any long projects.

Do you know if they sell anything akin to the rotozip?

no idea but im dieing to know how they can sell these so cheap.

although I've seen similar dremel type kits at menards for $20

Depends on what you are using them for. Cutting plastis as in the mod the cheap on is fine. for cutting metal you will burn up the motor go faster RPM

FWIW... The cheapo one is the same exact one that I used for the MJ mods. It works very well and can be used with Dremel bits as well which is nice.

Even if it only lasts 6 months to a year, it more than paid for itself IMO.
