Hi Paul, Hi everyone
I hardly feed banana but it is a good approach
Have a look on how one of my Zanclus eats Banana (you must have quick time or any thing that is compatible with mov format)

if you want to have look on my topic about the Zanclus and my experience, have a go here (by the way, speaking Portuguese is a good idea)

I mostly feed natural sponge, live, frozen or masked in a paste that I make and already gave de recipe to Paul. I also feed mysys, krill, freeze dried algae (nori, ocean nutrition, two little fishies) fresh algae collected at the sea side.
The sponge in question is Hymneniacidon sanguinea that I collect at a rocky beach close to my home in northern Portugal (you may see many photographs of it in my topic as well as in the previous part of this topic, page 36 or something like that) and the sponge in question can live in my reef but it is usually eaten by the Zanclus and the Centropyge within a few days depending on their appetite and quantity. I use de sponge as main food for the Zanclus but variety is very important both to provide more balanced food and prevent dependence from a specific type of food, so among others, banana can be an excellent approach which can also be used to introduce other foods to the Zanclus, foods that you can incrust in the soft banana pulp.
preparation of live sponge to give as food
Piece of live sponge given as food (if left long enough it may attach to de rock)
After some time, bites and eating
eating the paste
Kind regards
