Wow those are nice! What is that red stuff on the edge of the disk? I have a patch on a rock in my tank and always wondered what it was.
All nominees listed above were discussed on the 'the rarest zoanthid list' thread. Let me know when you have some of these available though!

I didn't mean to come off harsh, I have notuiced there are at least six threads about rare zoo's in this forum as I type this. I have bought a lot of corals at wholesalers , stores , and from private reefers . I know that the whole salers I buy from get all their corals in big shipments and used to sell them by the colony size. Now they read on RC and raise the price on colonies that people want! Not because they are any more rare than any other color but simply because they can. All this hype about "rare" zoo's only drives the price higher in a hobby that is expensive enough as it is.
P.S. I did say please
Lee

i agree with you 100% i know of 2 LFS around my way that do the same thing.

LFS, Distributers, middle men, online vendors, EBAY sellers etc. ALL look at these boards like RC and other forums. See what's being talked about, see what's being hyped then you know the rest.

See True Orange people eaters and now the suddenly famous purple hornets.

I cant believe Grateful Deads are not on the list. I have never been able to find them and I have been looking for a couple years.

I think one of the loopholes of this is that there are zoas out there that people don't know about, therefore they never get mentioned. I have seen a picture of the Grateful Deads before, they are nice looking and I hope you find them soon.
That is another thing with this thread; perhaps someone viewing this who has Grateful Deads will see you are looking for some and frag you a piece. I have had a couple of people offer me a frag of things I showed interest in.

I'm going to have to start slapping my name on my pictures! It really depends on if you are talking about rarest lineage zoanthid. I'm sure getting your hands on one of Blaine Perun's original PPE's isn't easy. I also don't believe all PPE out there are from him.

The Serene Nova's are gone... in all sense of the term "lineage"

lineage
1 a: descent in a line from a common progenitor b: derivation
2: a group of individuals tracing descent from a common ancestor ; especially : such a group of persons whose common ancestor is regarded as its founder

My colony which I named on coralpedia is gone and they were never fragged. All shots of them are from my tank and they are no more. So I think the Serene Nova's are a dead lineage.

I have had people say they could get them and I am sure they can get something that looks like them, but they can't get the real ones.

What I am trying to get at is many "rare" corals are just look alikes. Real lineaged corals are likely truly rare in every sense of the word. but then again it's all about trusting the person you're getting your corals from.

I think lineage is taking things a bit far. If you can tell beyond a reasonable doubt that you have PPE or any other type of coral, that should be enough. I don't think it it necessary to have a certificate of authenticity to prove your collection valid.
As for your serene novas, it stinks they are non exsistant anymore, they are really nice. But look on the bright side; they are in the lead!!!:p

Start another poll?

My money is on the Japanese ones this time.
