I just picked this guy up, he is in my QT tank which does include corals as well. But no medication. Hoping I won't need to set up a seperate QT tank. He was QT'd for 2 months at the LFS. Well here it is

Very nice find!!! Personally I dont think the coloration is so awesome, but the fact that they are so difficult to obtain.

thanks,It's about 5"s in length, I went to a LFS that I really don't visit to often. When I walked in I had to do a double take. He had 10 of these guys in his store. All were sold except the one I got, which happened to also be the largest. I really wanted the 2" guy, he said that one sold first. The LFS is usualy high priced and carries more of I would say "DESIGNER CORALS".

The smaller ones were 1700.00 and they went up to 2300.00. Worth every penny? That depends on how much you like something or as the girlfriend said you better love it.

Yea I would of thought so also, but he said he actually paid less for the smaller ones. He sold most of them online also not actual in store sales.

Glad your happy with it but do you think you'd have spent that kind of money, or they would be that desirable if they weren't hard to get hold off?

Actualy yes I probrably would have. Because I have always liked the tang even when I first saw one 15 years ago. I had a 265 that I had plans to make an entire Zebrosoma tank only. The Gem was the only one missing as I had a Sailfin,Yellow,Purple,Scopas and a Black tang in there. The Black tang was adopted from my stepfather.

That's a great answer and i'm glad its gone to someone with that kinda of attitude rather than a just because its rare. That's gonna be one stunning setup with that variety in there.

Well that was the old set-up lol. Not actually whats in the tank now. And for the hand me down, he was breaking down the tank and I was always putting on pressure to get that tang. And he knew it would be going into a nice tank and be cared for and that he could see it at anytime. The Black tang lived to for about 12 years since the date of purchase. The Gem tang will be going in with a small fowlr tang and as of right now a pair of clowns.

If it is anything relatively close to a yellow tangs growth rate, It would be less than a year old. From what I was told by a friend of mine who was in Hawaii and visited the Yellow tang "safe Zones" They grow to almost full size in one year.
